SMF supports themes which the user can specify in their control panels, if they are put there. We could do something like default fixed, default full width, dark fixed, dark full width, etc. And then maybe some other things.
I think that would make everyone happy.

It would also take like only a couple of minutes to do. Just copy the theme files to a new folder and change the few places where the width is set to be fixed (probably only one place in the css file).

You're the only one really complaining about it, dude.

I'm complaining too! But only because I want a nicely tablet-formatted theme. Click the page numbers is impossible with my ginormous sausage fingers!

Yeah, I don't really like variable width websites, either...
But anyway, I wanted to start a thread for people to complain/make suggestions/give feedback about the forum - this may as well be it!
Keep it coming!
No matter what you do, people will complain. Especially if you make changes.

At the very least, let the forum change the images to be the proper width. I'm finding it extremely annoying to have to create .. EXCLUSIVELY SIZED TIGSOURCE IMAGES! PREORDER NOW! There are some other sites and forums that will just smash your image down to the fixed width size, and allow the user to click to view a larger version on a system level. i dunno.

So no need to resize it in gimp or photoshop or something. But it would be a nice feature to have it automatically shrunk if it's bigger than the forum size

A toggle button for that would be ideal, but having everything resized to a maximum width of 700 wouldn't be bad either.

It sure does! And if someone were to set up a local copy of SMF 1.1.15, hack up the TIGSource theme to be fluid, and then submit the theme so it can be installed as an option...it'd make it in. I'd be happy to provide the actual theme files as a starting point so you don't need to start with server-output HTML. I'm all for suggestion threads, but it helps to say thank you once in awhile too (or, you know, once).
