1) Copy the default theme files to a new folder
2) Open 'style.css' and change this:

#wrapper {
   margin: 0 auto;
   position: relative;
   width: 900px;
}

to this:

#wrapper {
   margin: 0 auto;
   position: relative;
   width: 90%;   
}

I really want to see a list of active topics. Just a list of topics sorted by newest post.
I don't like the "show unread posts" list. Especially when topics get removed from that list because you posted in them (and thus moving them into a seperate "show new replies to your posts" list).

Unread posts includes both threads you posted in and ones you didn't.
New replies is just posts you posted in.

Since most people seem to be ok with most things, I don't see why you shouldn't do the work if you think you know how to improve it. That way we'll have a better understanding of what you're suggesting.

You can CSS a max-width for all elements in post content to address this pretty easily.
