Hi Everyone,

I am currently in the process of making a children's educational game titled "Connectorium". I have a very early build available and I would really like to get some feedback before moving forward.

The Concept
The concept is simple: The player plays the role of little girl who wakes up to a world where all forms of connections have gone missing. Each level consists of a system such as a farm, a city, or the digestive system, and the player must reconnect the elements of the system. Please note that I have not yet added any story elements to the build.

The Feedback
As I have mentioned, this is a very early prototype. So I'm less concerned about fine details, and more interested in feedback about the core concept and game play. Please do remember that this game is aimed at children so you must try and put your "child hat" on as you play it (whatever that means Smiley). Some questions that I have:

- Is the game fun or dull? What is fun or dull about it?
- Does the encourage learning through discovery?
- What can improve or enhance the mechanics?
- What additional things would enhance the learning and the fun aspects?
- What age group would you think the game is appropriate for?

System Requirements
This is a Unity based game and is not very graphically intensive. If you can run any Unity game, you can run this.

More Details
Please see this blog post for additional details about the alpha and the game.

I think the game is a good little educational toy that should entertain youngsters for a while.  I'm not sure about the age group though, I'll leave that for people with youngsters near the appropriate age to determine.

I'd suggest showing the descriptive text for an item when the mouse hovers over it rather than after it's clicked.

There doesn't seem to be a way to lose a failed connection once it's been made.  I've ended up with a tangled mess of arrows.  I'd suggest the red connections should disappear after a few seconds.

The shuffle button doesn't seem to do anything.

What was happening when I clicked finish?  Some arrows seemed to appear at the top of the screen, do they indicate something?

The connection between bread and the toaster doesn't quite read right, "into a crunchy toast" should just be "into crunchy toast"

How about connecting the eggs to the bread to make french toast?

Cheers,

Thanks for the feedback!

Regarding text on hover... I can't really do that on iPad. In an ideal world this is exactly the kind of thing that should be different on each platform but complicates things Smiley

I've got similar feedback regarding the red arrows so I'll look into that. The only issue is that the red arrows count towards the end score so if they just disappear that might confuse the player...

Ill look into the shuffle thing. It's supposed to move items around so as to minimize connection crossings.

The arrows at the end of the levels are my version of "stars". I need to make it more obvious somehow.

Thanks!
