Hello,

I have created 2d Android platformer, but many people say, that gfx is ugly and could be better. But I'm not an artist.

If you wanna play with it, if you have any idea and skills to improve it, you welcome.

Some tech info:

You can download game from Android Market.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.pzagawa.diamond.jack

If you do not possess Android phone, you can play game level directly from website. You just need gmail account. Unfortunately, at this time, there is no option to play public levels, you can only play level created by yourself with editor, but you can create one in a minute.

Basic gfx unit is 32x32 px tile. There are a couple of bitmaps. Here they are:

Unfortunately, I have not earned even one dollar on this game, so I can't offer you any payment, except "about" credits, if your gfx will be put in game.

If you need more information, other files formats, drop me an email.

Thanks!

I am not so much into making art for free anymore, but your art doesn't look bad. I only think you are trying to make it too serious while a more flash-like look would make it more appealing. The stones for instance look really serious, but the diamond and keys look really bland. You can get some better gfx there.

Great point! Indeed, gfx should be more balanced. Thanks for advice!

I played the game and what I was missing was a nice introduction screen with the main character in there and it was a bit weird it wanted to search for my gmail addy. Normally I would refuse games like that.
The game itself ran smootly, but it was very small on my Samsung Gio and for some reason I had the idea you could kill the baddies, like the scorpio when jumping on them, but you couldn't. So where's the weapon of the hero?
Als I missed the back button when you select for instance 'settings'. I know you can use the one of the phone, but all phones are different, so I would rather have one in the game.
The jump and the move buttons were almost invisable in the game, so maybe make them a bit clearer.
And when you finish a level (really short one btw) the background fades, but the sprites stay visable and then disappear. So not a good transition. I would use the Mario Bros transition or a screenwipe or something. And ofcourse also a shout out like 'perfect' or 'well done' placed in the screen before it fades out.

As with the tiles. Make them a bit lighter and also the main sprite. It's all well animated and looks good on my device, but I think you can gain more visitors if you make it all a bit more flash-like, like angry birds or the Spelunky.
And the dark tiles in the back might need some torches with some light, to add atmosphere I think.

All in all a nice game though. You miss a few things, but it isn't bad at all.
You can mail me if you want me to playtest it more.

Btw.. you can also program for the ipad/PC? If so, then I might be interested in a shared revenue version.

This is an android system token request required for accessing game portal based on google authorization. Game is checking game portal at startup for available levels and is syncing gamplay stats if you have premium account. To enable premium account, you must just login to game portal (i have enabled auto premium unlocking). Also, you can create your own level there.

I thought, levels are too short to make gameplay easier Smiley

iPad - no experience. PC however can be easily ported.

Thanks for your valuable comments. I remember them, when I get some free time to improve project.

Ok no problem. But maybe make the levels a bit longer and add a jumping-on-head-to-kill- them principle, or maybe a whip.
