It needs Unity player Hand Thumbs Down Left Lips Sealed Hand Thumbs Down Right

OH THE HUE-MANITY !!  Shocked.  I've added standalone download links for Pc, Mac, and Linux versions now if you prefer (you can find them at the bottom of the page below the webplayer).  I've not been able to test the Mac and Linux versions however since I'm not running these OS's myself so give me a shout if something doesn't work.  I've also fixed the initialisation bug so the palette should now appear correctly straight away.

I tried the Linux version. It seems to be ok at first after searching some paths but then it throws SIGABRT. Maybe it's because I'm using 64bit Linux, I don't know.

Thanks for testing rivon  Gentleman.  I've added a 64bit version to the Linux zip.  If you re-download hopefully that will fix the issue.

Wow Forbidden Palette is excellent!
Thanks!!  Smiley

I often struggle with choosing colours. I need to force myself to be a bit more experimental with them  Waaagh!

Not sure if you are planning to develop ForbiddenPalette further but it'd be great if you could select the amount of colours it puts out. Also some kind of Save or Export function  Smiley

My colour skills are somewhat limited, but this thread is inspirational! I ended up using the colour scheme from my IDE for a recent (non game) app and it made the world of difference; I can see here that a good palette can really change the mood of the visual environment.

alastair - that is a fab picture, I'll be referencing that in the future :-)

What a great thread! Wish I'd seen this a couple of weeks ago. I'm going to look again at my colours with all this new info in mind.

I particularly like Dawnbringer's 16 colour palette and I use it for almost all of my sprite art and some of my digital paintings.

www.colourlovers.com is also a good go-to for colour inspiration.

*snip*

This is really useful, I will try it out next time I'm going to do some coloring.

I'm gonna revive this thread a little.

I made a little palette generation tool, largely inspired by the one JWK5 made.  It's not meant to be a tool for creating comprehensive palettes for use in games, but instead to create little mini color schemes for inspiration and single-use.

It works by using a series of "Key Colors", which are placed in a little grid and blended to create a small palette of like colors.  And it's got a randomize button, so you can keep clicking it until something looks nice.

You can download it here.
Windows executable only.  It can output to the clipboard, as a .PNG file, or as a .PAL file.
