odd I use graphicsgale. I didnt think graphicsgale does that.
I'll make sure to sample the colors in a photoeditor in the future
edit: after checking some of the later ones around page 7=8 it starts to have a non-standard embedded color profile. I guess graphics gale clamps it back into a standard profile which means it has to find the nearest match.
Unless graphicsgale itself darkens the image which I think there would be a fairly low chance of that happening since it's basically made for pixel art.

I messed around in photoshop to see if there was an easy way to correct this. But no.. It will have to be done manually to get the right colors.
Update: The image seems to go back and forth from 24 and 32 bit. Not sure if this might cause the darkening.

no worries graphicsgale is great for pixel art. It's free too. well there's a paid version but it's hardly any different. EDIT: DERP you said Mac. I dont think graphicsgale runs on mac There is a pixel editor I saw on the Flixel forums that's getting good feedback called Pickle. It's Adobe Air so I assume it should run fine for Mac's http://www.pickleeditor.com

So what's the consensus on this? I doubt anyone is going to manually change the colors.
I'd say going forward just take a sample of a pixel in the scene before and after your modification to make sure that the color doesnt change in any way.
We should probably stick to sRGB color space since it seems to be the most compatible across platforms.

What actually got changed in the color values? The brightness, saturation, hue, etc? If someone can let me know, I can probably write a simple little program that will sample one pixel and compare that to the same pixel on the original image, find the percent difference in whatever value (hue, brightness, saturation, etc) and change all the other pixels by that much. Seems like it would in theory. Let me know what you think.

I believe it was just a color space conversion from sRGB to something else. So it would be a little hard to fix I think. Some colors might have been in both spectrums while others were clamped.
That's just my theory though. I don't think converting between 24bit and 32bit would have darkened the image. It's possible though.

I could re-color the new tiles by sampling the old ones and make sure they blend. It's a bit of a pain so I haven't really wanted to nor found the time for it xD
