So remember the falling out between the Yogscast and Notch following the Minecon? I guess they're tired of doing advertisement for Minecraft, so they're now making their own very Minecraft-like game and have set up a kickstarter: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/winterkewlgames/yogventuresNot sure I like just how much this looks like another Minecraft clone, but they're pretty much sure to be funded...

Looks like another minecraft, whatever. I don't like the Yogscast but at least the graphics look good and the game looks fun. No harm in having more games!

I hope they create a good combat system.

I created the dwarf skin that Simon uses (even though I remain uncredited), and I got to say it's been a surreal experience watching the little character frolicking around all over the internet, gathering fanarts, plushies, stories, videos, you name it, and now it's going to have its own little video game. I am a proud father.

Yep. And the ever so pleasant Yogscast community loves to remind me daily how I "stole his skin". Just take a look at the comments section and it should be a fun read, specially the older ones, luckily people are coming to terms with it now.

So yogscast did never, in any way, credit you for that skin?

I don't blame them, as far as I know he got it from the skindex and there's no contact information there. And I never tried contacting them on the subject, so I'm not bitter about it.

This... doesn't really look like minecraft at all? I don't know what the fuck you guys are going on about
It looks like a thing for making levels for other people to play through, not a block building / mining game

A healthy attitude, unlike the recipe of the yogscast new game, which seems to have an undertone of some bitterness. Any artist should be credited for their work, no matter how small or big, it's always a matter of courtesy.

It sounds more like Little Big Planet. Not sure if that'll work, but ehh. We'll see.

Oh my, I just now noticed you're the eldpack guy. I've been using your texture pack for the longest time. Right now everyone seems to be focusing on 32x and higher but you remained faithful to the classic 16x. Big kudos to you.

Yeah, this looks like it's only minecraft insofar as it has the same "Collect resources and build crap" vibe. Graphically it seems to be much more complex, which could make for a serious contender to minecraft if the final product delivers what the demo offers. I won't do the kickstarter, but if this gets to the final stages I might pick up a copy just for the possibilities of adventure maps.
That's awesome about the skin, kYn. Hopefully you're working profitably with other pixel work, otherwise it'd just be sad that your big success is the only one you don't profit from.
