Another innocent dies this night and evil once again tries to take a hold of this town. We shall not let them overcome us. Our purity in soul shall save us from these sins. The truth will be revealed and these demons shall be expunged from this town. I fear for my family but I know with God on our side, we shall overcome.

Pray with me brothers. For we have lost another brother in Nix.

It was a savage death, it could only happen through the hands of the infidels that attack at night, stealing God from us!

Murderers, savages, HEATHENS!!!!!!

That was certainly a long night, I hope that everyone is well rested.

I would urge you all to consider the words I have spoken thus far. I think we could be better placed in this whole situation than we presently are, if we worked together.

Regardless, let's review what we know:

- Nix was killed in a similar manner to Shelby- chest torn apart, leaving a bloody mess and destruction around. In Shelby's case there was additional burning, and in Nix's, torn metal. I do not know if these extra details are significant.

- Askin died in a fairly unique way, turned to ash. We do not know if he was killed in a way that left him as ash, or if he turned to ash because of what he was. There was no similar death last night.

- peanutbuttershoes has said (on page seven of the town records) that he had nothing to do with Ashkin's death (and presumably, any non-public deaths).

- When SirNiko was killed by peanutbuttershoes, we saw a similar reference to ash (page ten of the town records): "a searing light that leaves no blood, only ash." This has some similarity with Ashkin's death.

- eigenbom has publicly claimed (page eight of the town records) that Ashkin was evil, and that he knows this as a truth. He even references ash himself. As far as I am aware, eigenbom is the only one to make such claims.

- peanutbuttershoes is extremely reluctant to explain his actions, despite being supposedly invulnerable.

- Something unusual may have happened last night, with talk from God above that "Some people are being slow in their late-night actions" (page ten of the town records).

- An inadvertent clue: God above said "The person I was waiting on..." (on page eleven). Note: "person". This suggests that there exists a single person that acts in the night, whose actions are important enough to ensure a long night if they aren't acting.

Please feel free to add anything to this list that I may have missed.

Some possible theories:

- Ash is significant as the means by which peanutbuttershoes kills. SirNiko died this way. Ashkin also did, but peanutbutter shoes denies involvement. This would mean peanutbuttershoes directly lied. The problem with this theory is that Fission Mailed died "with an intense holy light", with no reference to ashing.

- Ash is significant to the identity of the deceased. This would mean that Askin and SirNiko were probably allied, which would likely make them demons. However, I am unsure if the reference to ash is strong enough to be able to go with this theory.

- Ash is completely insignificant, but the method of dying at night by ash is. This would suggest that one party can kill by ashing. It may be a once-off ability, or it may have happened once only because "The person I was waiting on..." didn't make a move before night had ended. Both seem likely.

- Ash in all forms is completely insignificant, and is actually designed to throw us off the scent. In this case, this would probably mean that the demons managed to make two kills at night, but only one this last night. This seems possible.

- Nix and Shelby were killed by the same party. I think this is fair enough to assume. There were some differences in the deaths, and I do not know how significant they may be, but the similarities are too strong to ignore.

- eigenbom is either telling the truth, and knows something significant, is being overly dramatic (which, err, I can relate to), or is outright lying about Ashkin. If telling the truth, he's taking a big risk, or is somehow protected. I'm not sure what to conclude, but I'd very much like to hear from eigenbom regarding how he knows for sure that Ashkin was evil.

- We have a guardian angel of some sort on our side, and they protected someone last night. In this case, I would guess there may be two parties at play, and one party tried to kill off someone who was deliberately protected, and the other hit Nix, who wasn't. In that case, somebody owes this guardian some thanks. If I was the intended target (probably because I'm deliberately making a bit of a spectacle of myself), and drew the attention of both the guardian angel and one of our foes, then thankyou for the protection. In either case, it seems to have turned out well for us, as it means we have one more of our number alive than we would otherwise at this point. This is one theory I am taking a gamble on possibly being true.

- And lastly, there is still the matter of what peanutbuttershoes's true role is. As I have mentioned previously (page nine of the records), it really isn't likely that he is exactly what he appears to be, nor a complete villain either. That we are getting very little in the way of explanation remains of concern.

Another matter to consider is why the particular victims were chosen. Why Nix? Why Shelby? Why Ashkin? For what reason was each chosen? Were they threats to their killers? Or were they chosen to shift suspicion in a particular direction?

Is there anything I have missed or gotten wrong? Please add to the theories and information above if you can.

(Someone notices a note on Eigenbom's door, dated yesterday. It says this:)

Brothers, I will be sojourning in the Old Cathedral to the east tonight.
I fear to leave at such a time, but it is ritual for me, and without it, I lose sight.
I pray that the demons are held at bay and no one suffers tonight.
I will be try to be back in the night of morrow, when the amber moon rises.

"That's tonight!", someone exclaims...

Too many dangers lurk around, and I fear something wicked might come if we leave our colleague alone. Should we aid him, or are his doings something perpetrated by those of the dark? I pray our crusader helps him in the darkness.

It's true that you made a lot of noise, Garthy, and presented a number of controversial theories upon us, but I wouldn't imagine that that would make you a target for those foul demons.  Much of your word has in fact been in question of peanutbuttershoes; the demons might want to spare you if only to keep alive your dissent, that it might spread to others.

You bring up a lot of interesting parallels, but I don't think I'm about to believe that there are concrete connections.  The ash associated with peanutbuttershoes seems merely to be the merciful death that the Light of God brings, while Ashkin's demise resembled something far more sinister.  I am willing to believe that his fate was a one-time thing.  Or at least that you weren't the target of both it and some protective spirit last night, Garthy.

What confuses me is eigenbom, though.  How could he say with such certainty that Ashkin's death was just, and then vanish with such mystery?  If fact, how is he still alive after doing so?  Just to hint that you have such extraordinary powers, as he did, seems like the best way to make yourself a target.  I wouldn't imagine anyone would see it safe to admit such a thing, unless it were to someone trusted like peanutbuttershoes.

And speaking of that, we never really got any closure on his census.  I suppose it wouldn't be safe to announce his plans to the whole town, but I for one would like some sort of assurance that he's got a plan at all!  Are you still able to save our town, peanutbuttershoes?  I must admit, my faith is waning...

This is becoming to convoluted for me to handle.

Fifth, I'm not sure that the theories are necessarily controversial, nor do they deserve to be labeled as such so broadly. If you think this is justified, I'd like to hear what exactly makes the theory that Nix and Shelby were probably taken down by the same party controversial in any way.

In any case, they are just theories, based on the extremely limited information we have at hand. I'd rather get my ideas out there early, to get people thinking and talking, rather than remain silent and risk losing information that could be useful if I meet an untimely demise. Given two more nights, we would probably have better information, and better theories could be put together. However, we could potentially be down six people (one at the end of the day, two at night, per day) in this time! So I'd rather not wait. Even if every single theory I have come up with turns out to be completely wrong, somebody with more information or better ideas than myself might be able to apply it to what they know, or build on them in some way. And if one of the theories is right, well, we've made some decent progress at a very early stage, and might have a crack at prevailing.

And as much as I don't like it to say it, your theory that I might actually have been deliberately left alone last night because of what I've been saying is sound and should definitely be considered as well, now and in the following days, and particularly if I end up getting killed. I'm not sure how likely it is that this actually happened, but it is definitely possible. However, if instead there is a guardian angel, as past literature tends to suggest may occur, and I was protected, then there is now one amongst us who can be reasonably confident that what I say presents some kind of threat to the forces of darkness in this town. On top of that, we've managed to deny them a kill, which buys us more time, and pushes the advantage back toward us. I'm sure you can understand why I'm hoping for this particular theory to be true.

As for the mention of ash- I don't know exactly what can be concluded from what we've seen, but I do get the feeling that it may end up being significant in some way, which is why I talk about it a fair bit. Yes, I can offer nothing concrete, but only God above could state anything about our circumstances with absolute certainty. All we can do is come up with ideas as to what might be happening, and act on any potential clues that we can find. I do get the feeling that ash may be one of these clues and should be watched closely.

As for eigenbom, I'd like to know if his exile is self-imposed or has forced upon him. This could be pretty significant.

The specters of those gone before us grow restless, my brothers. That we may press ever onward in our journey through the valley of the shadow of death, in safety and oneness, my prayers constantly ask.
