Make the games you want to make, also if you're trying to find out what what genres are currently popular so you can bank on their popularity, this is a terrible way to do it.

Snark aside, game developers tend to have different tastes in games than game players.  True fact.  Also a lot of us don't play a ton of games and are more selective as to which we do.  It's why TIGSource is a useless place for market analysis and selling your work.
