Hi

My name is hermann kayode , i'm from africa  and i've been around here since a long time , lurking , but recently i decided to join the crew and get maybe some feedback on my work.
Anyway Star and light is my first ambitious game (i should precise that ) for selling .
This game should be my second game but anyway it will be my first , the other game is froozen because kinda hard to create ^^'


The game will be a 2d puzzle platformer in flash (created with stencylworks)
I put the graphics behind almost everything , also the music is on bad quality since i can't put high quality sounds since it will frooze and cause errors



Story

The story will revolve around a young girl living alone in the world (earth ?) near an old Temple called " Olorun "
One day her dead parents will appear to her as ghosts and ask her to prevent a killing in the future of a young girl in a the abandoned temple
The thing who will kill the little girl is called the "butcher" , it's a true prophecy ? , who is the butcher ?

A major twist involving the parents , the butcher and the little girl will occur in the end of the game.

This demo is the second demo , that demo is the heavy version demo
You'll see that the heroine is a bit graphically different (her arms are naked)
The heavy ver will wait a bit , but you can play it and see how it looks , it's an early demo so it's not great , there is no sounds , no tutorial etc
the rule : Lights all the platforms by landing once on a platform , dont jump twice on that paltform or you'll die !

This flash game will be around 14 MB .
It will sold just after the beta .
The price will not be High , i'll see when the game will be full fonction and close to zero bug free (i know this is impossible)

I dont think get any comment and feedback since this game is just not the classic game you can see around but i'd did it ! so...

Left to do :

Finish the new game + mode (when you finish the game with some conditions you got a new game + )
Only one new game + will be avalaible
New game + will be the same with some change , the gameplay will be changed a bit.

Finishing the graphics on levels.

Doing the new design boss for the new game +

Coding the music right (the beta will have no music , but the final ver will have)

Not the unusual board but more a classic one with trophies and a score for the player
despite the game using a total unusual way of gameplay , i tried to make it some rewardable ...

There is not a lot of achivements but the new game + will help to the game lenght !

Added a new option of rewind scene

There is only one save , so if you think you missed something, you can go back
I'm not sure to put that arrow everywhere, it will depends of the feedback of players

Notes :

Star and light is an adventure game created by Hermann kayode in 2012 (started in 2011)
The main purpose was to give to the player another kind of gameplay experience
Still a lot of classic thing are in the game (like ennemies , goals , collect etc)

Please give a try , check the beta and just try.

I need feedback for that long road i had.
The dev is not done since i have problems with sounds , so i removed all for the beta
Sorry , if you can't stand playing without sound , then don't play it because there is NO SOUNDS !

I would like feedback first on the FPS , fluidity of the game
The game is already fluid ? or unplayable?
the game gets unplayable after a while ?



Easy notes:

Press U to reboot from everywhere (should work , if not tell me)
It's a flash game so no NEEDED INSTALL and you have to close the windows if everthing goes wrong
The game seems massive so please shutdown your other app when you play.(it's massive on my laptop so i dont know)
Everything is explained in the game , just read and follow instructions.

General :

The game features the system of deathlight puzzles : You have to Put in light platforms to win the stages and go to the next.

The game also have a story , i wrote everything ,i'm not english man so you'll see a lot of weirdness in the way of talking of heroes!
The story resolves around a girl living alone on a deserted earth...
One day her dead parents comes in front of her as ghost and tell her to enter the mysterious temple near from her home
The heroine will have the mission of saving a little girl wich entered the mysterious temple .
Some twists in the end and such.
Of course no need to follow the story, you can skipp sequences.


The game will features mini games in the temple:
Starscore mini game (avalaible in the beta)
Kanan & helena mini game (not avalaible)
etc
How to discover them ? by collecting some things in the temple !

You will ride some vehicles at some point too.

The heroine have two costumes in game !

There is hidden side quests in the game

The game features a more complete ending, you have to discover how to trigger it .

There is a new game + with new features to discover and new quests.

The game features 29 achivements with a score .
This part of the beta is not finished yet so you likely wll have always the same cup , the bronze one!
D'ont forget it's a beta so please, play just stress free

The game features the rewind system , so like explained further , you can go back to a previous scene by clicking on the arrow below in the center.The blue arrow near the stage name !

The game features randomized dropped thoughts of the heroine : Look under her avatar face in the left-top of the screen !
Sometimes it gives some clue on the current stage!

The game is globally easy , nothing hard when you know how to play it.

The actual game (the beta) don't have some mini games available , a glitch prevents this
i need to fix this right now


i have a lot of regrets on this project and i had to reduce a lot of thing ! so excuse me if the game seems strechted at some point.

To win the game , you have to play with a lot of strategies around jumping and double jumps
There is no acceleration button and shoot button
The solution is just in front of you, find the best way of lighting all platforms in one Way !
Try the Training room also.

Don't use or try to play the game like you were another popular one or i dont think it would work.

Hey airman4 yeah the new link works so was able to download it and try it. Nice game and like the platform concept you have going on. Think it's an interesting setup for levels.

Some points I've noted are:
-Text went off screen once that I saw
-Text a bit slow
-Some spelling mistakes and some sentences could be fixed up. If you want you can send me through a word document and I could go through it and check it.
-Like the character and how the material of their clothes moves
-Fire looks great
-The wall jump was hard to pull off but might just be me.

Nice game and like the overall atmosphere and story you have going on

Hey thanks a whole lot for trying the beta!

I'm wotrking on a new version
a lot ogf changes
The text are more speed now , they are 8 , 6 and 4 seconds display , before they were 12 , 8 and 6 .

So it's faster .

The text went off, i see what you mean , i fixed it.

Sorry for my bad english yes.

If you really want the text , i can work on that but they are a lot !
i'll see what i can bring to you

Note:
The wall jump is hard yeah to get but once you learned it how to do in the training room then it will be easier like eating a pie!
You have just to get how to do it , don't panic , don't press the oppositie direction to wall jump, just stick with the same button.

The reworking of the beta will fix those things :

Some mini games are not avalaible , it will be fixed.
Some visual changes to increase the fluidity more
the score board should be fixed.

Devs a game can be a headache combo sometimes


But i hope get rid of that problem other than that no game for me
Anyway i'm still working on the beta
The problem of texts too long have been fixed , some background removed
Now Via pause the player can check the Playtime

Kinda useful since finishing the game with too much time prevents of the golden cup
