"In a recent interview, Mr. Miyamoto confirmed that a new Super Mario Bros. game for the Wii U system will be shown at this year's E3 Expo. This is based on the Mario experience that was demonstrated at last year's E3 Expo. We'll have more to announce about our plans for the E3 Expo at a later date."http://gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=175673Uh, well. I enjoyed NSMBWii, but it's not really one of my favorite Mario games. Not only that, but the demo shown last year had Miis as playable characters I guess it makes sense, it'd be a good launch title for WiiU since 2D Mario sells like crazy, and we just had a 3D Mario (which is the best since Sunshine, in my opinion). Anyway, I want this to be more than an expansion pack for NSMBWii. A new art style would be awesome, online play, level editor... anything that would make me feel less guilty of buying this day one. Also, a week ago Nintendo registered "Super Mario Bros. 4". Could this game have that title? I hate Miis.

Dang, a new Mario Bros game where you can play as your Mii? I gotta admit, I never saw that coming, but it looks pretty interesting. ^_^ I get the feeling that they're going to push the multiplayer aspect a little more this time.
I've got my fingers crossed for online play, though I don't know how they would deal with troll players who purposely push everyone off cliffs and such.

They could make online competitive only? Now that I think about it, the competitive VS mode in the DS game was quite fun.

As are the Xbox LIVE avatars and whatever equivalent the PS3 may or may not have.

They are especially dumb in a platforming game where they are tiny and nearly indistinct given the literal same silhouette and possible negligible 'facial feature' differences.

Mario, Luigi, Toad and Princess. These are the four characters. Why is Nintendo having so much trouble with this? Bring back Wart and subcon (they're already canon Mario characters by this point) and you can make a plot where this makes sense.
NSMB Wii was an okay game, but not great. I think I missed out on a lot by not playing it multiplayer, and the nature of the game is such that playing it multiplayer any way but locally just doesn't work.
I might pick this up when it gets discounted after a year or so. So far no Wii U games are piquing my interest.

They have announced like... 3 games?
I'm excited I guess. More interested in what the Galaxy/3D Land group is up to tho.

tbh i didn't think eithet nsmbw or the galaxy games were masterpieces. nintendo's wii-era classic franchise gams are all competently put together and very polished but also kind of bland imo.

I don't like them, but tolerate them as extra characters in spin-offs like Mario Kart. But a main Mario game? Now, if only people could get creative with them. I don't like when I'm playing Mario Kart against: - Toad - Mario - Luigi - Bowser - KEVIN- Daisy - Wiggler I have encountered Bayonetta, Reggie, an Angry Bird, Michelle Obama. That's a bit better. Now, in their defense, their role in the upcoming Mario Tennis Open is a bit better, since you get to customize their gear and clothes, which actually affects their stats. I like that there's a bit of character building there.

The Mii wave will last precisely until Nintendo realizes it cannot market generic make-it-yourself characters with the zeal that they market pokemon and then they will vanish and be replaced with marketable, copyrighted entities.
