At the start of my post I said:
I don't know how much Metroid you've played, but in the first one you're not forced to go in any direction.
How was that condescending? I don't know how much Metroid you've played (i.e. which games, or how many games in the series, or how far into them, etc.). Could be more than me, could be less. That's all I was saying by that. It means what it says, nothing more.
The power level comment was in reference to repeatedly sprinkling your post with "Maru Mari (Morph Ball)". This doesn't make you sound like a metroid expert, it makes you sound like a fucking weeb.
Note that in the US manual
for the NES Metroid the Morph Ball is called the Maru Mari (its Japanese name). They didn't start calling it the Morph Ball until the other games. I grew up on the NES Metroid, so to me it is still Maru Mari because that is what I remember it as, and how many FAQs and maps still list it, but sometimes that is confusing for people who are more familiar with it being the Morph Ball so I refer to it as both. I never claimed to be a Metroid expert, nor am I trying to sound like one.
Feel free to weasel around the definition of "forced". This isn't a semantic argument, and does not change the fact that four of the five games you posted require you to go left at the start to advance. As you've confirmed. And posted fucking maps of.
As I explained at the tail-end of my last post you're "forced" to go right, and with good reason.
In 1986 this would have been unusual and was included as a deliberate contrast to other games, which is why it's out of place here.
Which is what they were banking on, which is why when you go right you realize you can't proceed without something to make it through the gap (or jump higher with). When you do go left you get the Maru Mari but hit a wall, demonstrating you did in fact need to go right but now you have the tools to do so. If they wanted you to go left they'd have likely put the Maru Mari on the right. So either way you look at it, in the beginning you're "forced" to go right.
By the way, it's one thing to be wrong, but you started your first post with condescension and in your last one managed to call me a dick, so you can pretty much go fuck yourself.
I didn't start my post with condensation, you took it that way. I even went out of my way to show that it wasn't anything serious at the end of it.
In the second post I said "don't be a dick about it
", I didn't say "Radix, you are a dick". In other words, don't get worked up and hostile over it. In retrospect that was a bad way to put it and I apologize there, but what was the point of this: "(Also you might want to suppress your power level a bit.)", when all I'd really done is just disagree with a statement you made and explained why.
