What size should the portrait of the character be (in pixels)
Is it just for the selection screen? or when they throw some sort of special attack, in the same Marvel vs Capcom style?

It's just for the character selection screen. The portraits will be 48x48 pixels: big enough that I could fill the screen with them even if there were only a few character, but small enough that I could potentially fit tons of characters on the selection screen.

Gotcha´.

Are specials/supers planned on the engine tho?
How about "Zoom out" when the players are far from each other? (samurai showdown style)

Only SSB-style specials.

Zooming and pixel art generally don't get along.

Brawl has a nifty little addon of specials, wich are actually quite fun, and about the zoom thingie, if done properly, i think it could work out just great, because it really gives a sense of huge space. Besides, otherwise, stages would be pretty small, and dont really offer a chance to fight out with 4 chars.

Try some videos of Samurai Showdown, Savage Reign (i think) Double Dragon, on neogeo, its pretty much the way to implement the camera system on a 2D smash clone.

Im just throwing out some ideas tho,

You mean melee, right? Not Brawl's Final smashes?

I know. There were three of them, two subtitled "melee" and "brawl", respectively. The latter had massive attacks called Final Smashes, whereas the formers' "specials" were merely an extended moveset affixed to a button separate from "normal" attacks. I'm inquiring as to whether Nightshade means to include the latters' epic attacks.

Later, Monsieur Vache. Hope everything gets worked out and whatnot.

I don't think we should be aiming for a smash clone but, to my mind, Super Smash Bros. is a game that we should be studying and learning from because, y'know, it rocks socks.

Yeah I know. I was kinda joking since I've already gotten in trouble a bit for saying "like in Smash Bros" too many times.

Like in Melee. I don't like the idea of Final Smashes much, to be honest.

Can anyone point out, EXACTLY what's missing from Naija, and i'll finish that ASAP...afterwards we can focus on Quote, and so on.

Also, is there some Mp3s of Aquaria soundtrack, that someone could facilitate? (remix or not, either way is fine) I find that drawing while listening to the corresponding game music helps me get in the mood (the Cave Story remix project is doing wonders for my drawing mood in that sense).

Same with the other games,
-Cheers

You know, it's suddenly hit me how spoilerific it is to refer to Quote by his actual name. But, if someone hasn't actually played through to the part where they learn his name, then they are not indie enough to actually play this anyway. So, uh, yeah.

That did the trick (wonderful work on the OST btw)

I did some edits on Derek's animation, and polished his base a little (hope that's okay)

It's not perfect, but a bit better i think
