There some character designs in LoL I really like. Rumble and Nidalee come to mind at first.

Sure it's a little diverse and goofy but I always felt that was kind of a MOBA thing. Havent played a whole lot of DOTA2 but I'm pretty sure I remember hearing some goofy stuff there too.

I think it's more what you're used too. I started with LoL, and only saw DotA recently, so that one seems silly to me.
Also LoL is slowly upgrading some of their older champion art.
DotA champions seem more difficult to distinguish between in the middle of a game, although my only experience is observation, not playing.

I like both LoL and Dota2 for differing reasons, in terms of art style and content.
