Star Command seems pretty nice so far. Basically a cross between FTL and Kairosoft-style management sims.

I've been playing a lot of iOS adventure games lately. Touch interface really works out pretty perfectly for them. I don't really like Telltale's games on here as much though. I don't want to deal with virtual 3D controls (and kill my battery) when I'm just trying to solve puzzles. Ace Patrol is a new game from Sid Meier and it's fantastic. The IAPs are explained here and are not really exploitable. Fantastic strategy game and it's free to try.
