Sorry, yeah. I remembered them as cubes standing on one corner. I went back and played some more and saw they were more complex. Since they weren't billboarding I figured they had to be solids with transparent shaders. Nice effect.

I do like the "trees" especially how they collapse if they're touched. Interesting way to leverage some simple actions into a complex effect.
