I don't get the uproar over this. I mean, I understand what people's complaints are, and the name of the bundle sounds like a joke, but I don't actually see anything wrong with it.

I actually liked death spank + shank btw, both were pretty good games, this bundle is not bad AT ALL for the 20 dollar price tag.
I think it's just that EA is like super hated on right now (for some good and some dumb reasons)

If you take the term "indie" to mean a kind of games or maybe even a loose genre, it makes perfect sense. Same happened with music and film, except that "indie" games are usually pretty good instead of abysmal. The whole indie thing is pure marketing bs anyway.

Hmm.
I'm curious if the development of deathspank + shank had anything to do with EA while being made.
Like what if Cave story was bought up by EA, cave story would still be an indie game?

Cave Story was already bought by a publisher.
And the answer is no.

So the part where you have to use origin for some of the games is indie too?
Clearly a choice of the developer and not a part of the publishing deal.

Clearly a choice of the developer and not a part of the publishing deal. Platform exclusives are indie! "Indie" is an incredibly nebulous term. It's not even agreed on if it's designating an approach to design, the financial situation of the developer or an aesthetic style. Personally I think those games appear to be at least in the indie style - although I think Rayman Origins looks like an indie title too. Which is fine, some words have complex meanings that are hard to pin down, all part of the rich tapestry of language and stuff. Problems arise when you start treating the word like it has a solid meaning, for instance when limiting the entrants to a competition with significant rewards to indie games only.

There's a distinction between "indie" and "independent":
Independent : A company/individual that self-publishes its games. (e.g. Amanita Design, Kloonigames, Sony, Microsoft, Rovio, Capcom, etc...) It's an objective term.
Indie : A philosophy used by some developers. Usually concerning team size, design approach, budget, etc... It's not an objective term, so everybody can have a different "indie" definition. (e.g. Everybody can be indie if it wants to; I only consider a team with less of X persons indie; They can only have a budget of Y to be indie)

It isn't. "Indie" comes from independent, but noways they have a different meaning. The only thing stupid here is you saying "basically the same" when I just proved otherwise. So if you can call what I said "stupid", please enlighten me and let me know how they are the same thing.

Indie, independent. Indie is derived from independent. The words have the same definition to me.
An indie/independent game developer is just someone who makes + publishes games, independent of a publisher. self published. free from outside sources which may damp the creativity coming from the developers. They're one and the same to me.
Also how did you prove it just by saying it? That would be a nice superpower to have...

Meh. EA here is giving a lot of publicity and the opportunity to make a lot of money to games that were developed with no creative ingerence whatsoever from EA - so I think this is a Good Thing actually. "indie" to me means that the developers followed their creativity only and took the subsequent risks throughout the development of the game, and that definitely applies here as EA came months/years after the games were done.
Hating on this bundle because "it's mainstream" is hipster bullshit, imo, and the same hate should apply to the HIB too, then.
