I don't get the uproar over this.  I mean, I understand what people's complaints are, and the name of the bundle sounds like a  joke, but I don't actually see anything wrong with it.

I actually liked death spank + shank btw, both were pretty good games, this bundle is not bad AT ALL for the 20 dollar price tag.

I think it's just that EA is like super hated on right now (for some good and some dumb reasons)

If you take the term "indie" to mean a kind of games or maybe even a loose genre, it makes perfect sense. Same happened with music and film, except that "indie" games are usually pretty good instead of abysmal. The whole indie thing is pure marketing bs anyway.

Hmm.

I'm curious if the development of deathspank + shank had anything to do with EA while being made.

Like what if Cave story was bought up by EA, cave story would still be an indie game?

Cave Story was already bought by a publisher.

And the answer is no.

Lol I know it has! I meant specifically EA =]. I think if it was there would be blind anger followed with it.

So the part where you have to use origin for some of the games is indie too?

Clearly a choice of the developer and not a part of the publishing deal.

Platform exclusives are indie! Gomez

"Indie" is an incredibly nebulous term. It's not even agreed on if it's designating an approach to design, the financial situation of the developer or an aesthetic style. Personally I think those games appear to be at least in the indie style - although I think Rayman Origins looks like an indie title too.
Which is fine, some words have complex meanings that are hard to pin down, all part of the rich tapestry of language and stuff.

Problems arise when you start treating the word like it has a solid meaning, for instance when limiting the entrants to a competition with significant rewards to indie games only.
