I just realized why that dog image bothers me so much, and not just because of the QUALITY of the construction of it.
Why is it on a fucking beach?
Seriously, there are no morphological advantages that organism would have to being aquatic. It is covered in thick fur, which would cause it to have incredible drag in the water. I'll give the legs a pass since it's entirely possible the creature would walk along the seafloor like a crustacean. But why the ears and the snout? How would that even be adapted for underwater? When would it ever be advantageous to hear LESS because you have big dumb floppy dog ears in the way? The only reason dogs have floppy ears as opposed to the upright ears of most canine or feline species is because the ears drag on the ground and pick up scents which are brought to the dog's nose. Scent doesn't really work the same way underwater and those ears would be completely unrealistic to see on any aquatic lifeform.
And then there's that tail. Why would it need a tail if it has eight legs? Certainly not for movement via swimming, that's what the fucking legs are for. The only other use tails serve is balance, but animals with a huge abdomen and eight legs don't really have balance issues. The only arachnid with a tail is the scorpion, and that tail isn't just a furry starchy twig sticking off its arse, but a fully prehensile weapon, of which that tail certainly is not. It doesn't even have poisonous barbs or a stinger or anything.
In conclusion, that is the laziest "animal splice" ever and the fact that it's on a beach only serves to illustrate just how little understanding of evolutionary biology whoever made that hoax had.

Maybe it just wanted to have a nice time at the beach. Catch some rays, chill out in the water, have the dream vay-cay it's been saving up for.
There's probably an eight-armed boogie board offscreen. We don't know.
