Trash80 is great!  I like (most of) his first album too, which is saying a lot because I'm really picky when it comes to vocals.

If you haven't tried it, Icarus is lots of fun on Audiosurf!  Grin

I'm not a fan of Hologram, but I think Icarus is really really good.  And I wish I could play Audiosurf! (no Steam on OS X)

I did listen to some obscure Robert Fripp stuff which I think was from the 80s (League of Gentleman), and that's... odd. Shocked
Isn't that when he plays with a huge band composed solely of guitarists? (I think it's his students or something)
If that's the case I thought it was kind of cool, although I didn't listen to it with keen attention

No, I think I know what you mean though I can't think of the name right now. The League of Gentlemen was a strange dance music band. They also sometimes put orgasmic sound samples over their songs Shocked

And some random Fripp trivia, he's the one who produced the sounds and jingles for Windows Vista

Interesting.

That wasn't half bad, but if I persisted in listening to the song I think I'd have a seizure

The Red Paintings.

they are awesome.

Awesome I tell you! awesome!

HOLY SHIT!

Someone else has heard of the Red Paintings?!

My mind is blown.

Saw them live when they were supporting the Dresden Dolls and there live show is amazing. Had people doing paintings, fucked up weird costumes, groups of people positioned stategicly through the crowed in special costumes and shit.

It was fantastic. Probbably better then the main show (Though the Dresden Dolls were pretty rad)

I've been listening to Round 1 of Man Factorys awesome street fighter Rock Opera.

I recommend Circle. Repetitive and rather psychedelic, just the way I like it!

Kao's fantastique list of musical recommendations:

I owe much of my musical taste to recommendations I got from TIGF members (especially two of 'em - you'll know who you are Kiss). I hope I can introduce some of you to a few fun bands too!

I tried to separate the bands into subgenres because some are quite different from the other ones in the same category. Fatboy Slim is nothing like M83, but it does have something in common with Apollo 440.

Don't mind the videos. Some suck.

And no, these aren't all the bands I like. Just the ones I like the most. Wink

Electronic:

Metal:

Fatboy Slim and Orbital are both very good.  I'll have to check out Apollo 440 then, I guess!

I'm a big fan of prog/experimental/fusion stuff. Lately I've been getting into math rock as well.

Big list o' bands:

Battles
Bo Hansson
Cynic
Don Caballero
Dysrhythmia
Liquid Tension Experiment
Mahavishnu Orchestra
Maps & Atlases
Squarepusher
Tera Melos
The Mars Volta
Tortoise
Yes
Buckethead
Isis
Mouse on Mars
Hella
Wishbone Ash
Kraftwerk
King Crimson
Mats/Morgan Band (these guys deserve special mention, they're really underrated)
Planet X
Frank Zappa

(as you can see, I like some electronic stuff as well. I have a soft spot for analog synths)

Pop, etc: old Genesis (before Peter Gabriel jumped ship), Yes, The Smiths, Pearl Jam, Focus, Lee Clayton, Flogging Molly, The Advantage, Asa-Chang & Junray, Gogol Bordello, and too many others.
You should be crucified just for putting Pearl Jam in Pop. [/fanboy]
Seriously though. Death Metal, Punk, Hardcore, Electronic have their own respective lists and all the other groups are pop? SHAME ON YOU, OPTRIROMINILUIKUS!(how the hell do you login)

Also; anyone said Tom Waits, Norah Jones, Cat Power, Travis, Dire Straits, yet?

I'd also recommend Frank Zappa, but the bastard's music (god rest his soul) don't appeal to everyone.

Yay for Pearl Jam.
