I do find it odd that both people telling stories felt the need to mention that the people were black, as if it mattered in literally any way. What if the races were reversed in the story? Anyway, the really interesting part isn't that the perpetrators are black, but that they're immigrants. Not to demonize immigrants in general. It's just that the Australian Gov't clearly failed its duty to its citizens in this case. |

the social contract is less an idea and more a signed piece of paper that a senior politician sends you that says "i promise to protect you from scary blacks", and honour bound by this promise, you can expect julia gillard to back you up on the streets when you chase shoplifters

Immigration is a privilege, not a right. It's ideally contingent on benefit for a nation, which is the gov'ts job to ensure (who can come is at their discretion). Inviting a criminal element harms the nation, so here, they failed. Obviously they can't pry deep into the hazy background of every ill-documented foreigner. But immigrant criminality is immense in many Western countries, so clearly it's a systemic failure, not just a few isolated incidents here and there. |

I think the big bad black men saw that kind of entity fast approaching, and fearing for their safety, decided to trash it.

well the problem is that i used to run the competitive spree killing organization. i don't think it would look good for me if i shot eight black guys. |
