"Steed buys the Bastion off of Steam.
He plugs in a PS3 controller. The instructions are mighty confusing. Maybe he shoulda plugged in the XBox controller.
Steed doesn't mind.
He sees himself playing this instead of Diablo 3 for a while.
It's a fine game."

I found Bastion to play better with mouse than gamepad, especially challenges that require speed and precision.

Yeah. I actually found some of the Proving Grounds stupidly easy with a mouse (like the Army Carbine one) which leads me to believe that they were originally designed for a gamepad and got easier in the transition. Dueling Pistols were still incredibly annoying though. A weapon that encourages button-mashing? Fuck that. Umm... I guess you guys can go back to talking about Torchlight now.

Did anyone else find Veteran mode a bit weird in this?
I'd blaze through some stuff, only to hit an elite mob that had so much health that I'd be forced to spend 10 minutes kiting the fucker just to kill him. It's like they seemed to confuse "hard" with "tedious". I'd recommend checking the forums before picking difficulties because it really killed my game around level 14.
I was amazed by the embermage though. I'm always rolling an archer in ARPGs but the skills were so sweet. Teleport comes with a frost nova attack by default - it just cuts out the middle man, amazing. Plus unlike the Diablo wizard there'll be the whole range of exotic skills to use at any time.

I havent tried veteran yet, but i have played with a beserk, and god, it has been fun. And engineer however, man, that class is hard. Most of the god abilities rely on bigass weapons that areslow to use. Pumping a lot on vit didnt help much either. Kinda like the whole requirements mechanism.

I got the 4 pack today, since I quite liked the first one. It looks really good, looking forward to getting out of the dungeons.

Less than 4 hours until release now =) The non-steam pre-order link is unavailable at the moment though. I hope I'll be able to buy it at launch!

Diablo 3 was a snooze. Now I'm afraid to buy this game and I think I will have a hard time convincing my mates to buy another hack n slash.

I skipped Diablo 3 for his price...not enough money, but Torchlight II is cheaper. Right now I'm playing Torchlight I from Humble Bundle and I like it Hopefully I will buy the sequel.

Funny how the Torchlight 2 4-pack is a few euros cheaper than a single copy of Diablo 3. That deal looks mighty inviting, I'd say.
What are the social features in Torchlight 2 like? Does it have things like the ability to quick join friends' games?

Accounts page is down so I can't set up multiplayer.
Unlike another game I was still able to play single player. Pretty rad so far.

played for a couple of hours or so earlier today, really fun so far. feels very Diablo 2-ish, compared to the first.
done a few side quests and went into a dungeon, really liked the layout and the details they put into it. the super colorful graphics aren't really my cup of tea but they do make it look quite good. the music is pretty decent too, much better than the first torchlight which had kind of a mediocre soundtrack.
still not really a fan of the inventory. it's not always so apparent if an item is better than what you have equipped or not, so I spend too much time comparing items and reading boring stats. and the game does throw a ton of loot at you. but thank god for the pet system, just load my bulldog with junk and have him go sell it.
didn't play Diablo 3 so I can't really compare it to that. but as a Diablo 2 fan and someone who found the first Torchlight kinda boring, I would recommend it.
