any game wherein you have to memorize a list of several dozen hard-to-pull-off combos, those are the ones that don't have very much appeal to me  Shrug
Guilty Gear is probably the most technical series out there, but just because it has a high skill ceiling doesn’t mean you have to be doing character specific loops and hitting FRC’s to just play the game, especially if you’re just playing with friends of your skill level as everything is relative. Most combos are actually surprisingly short; you don’t actually have to convert every random hit into a massive combo like you do in, as an example, BlazBlue. This is the latest a-cho (Japanese arcade) ranking battle. You’ll notice the hit-count is usually pretty low unless the opponent lands their “do not get hit by this” starter:

What actually takes a lot of memorisation is the two-player part of the game. Especially since the characters can do so much, but that’s precisely why Guilty Gear is so good.

Edit: Nevermind all that. Jam puffball and 6HS don't wall stick anymore. Oh my.

So guilty gear isn't dead yet?

awe-sum

Though honestly, I find Blazblue easier to play than Guilty gear, even though you need to make huge combo chains to do any damage. To be fair it's been a VERY long time since I've played a GG title. I still remember my feeling of accomplishment when I nailed a 12-hit grand viper combo. I didn't even do it against a wall or cancelled into a tension attack.

Good times.

I am a bit bummed that this new game is just a tweak. I'm not sure if I'm going to get it or not.

of course you find blazblue easier to play, its basically "guilty gear BUT FOR BABIES (who like even longer combos)"
Guilty Gear is twice as fast, whenever i switch from one to the other im like "whoa"
the speed change is crazy

of course its just a tweak, all new versions of fighting games ever are just tweaks

if you have people to play with this is a thing
why would you get a fighting game otherwise

You're adorable.

I don't consider additional characters or rules tweaks.

I'm pretty sure my broke friend will keep playing overture. why buy a game I'll have to play by myself?

That aside, I'll be tempted to pick it up if it has good online play. one can never have too many previous gen games on his current gen game playing device thingy.

Yeah, if it has online play I'll be pretty happy, since the only guilty gear I own at the moment is XXreloaded and that... well, it has online, technically, but it's terrible.

I SAID GUILTY GEAR 2 IS OFF TOPIC MODS BAN THIS NERD

"why buy a game ill have to play by myself"
thats the whole point of fighting games???  honestly they are not made to be played against the comp!! but its a necessary evil because casual gamers bring in precious SALES

I guess new chars would be cool, but I think this is more of a "lets use everything we have with Guilty Gear and make a game with it today"

i don't really get the adorable part, guilty gear really is twice as fast as blazblue

but yeah honestly if you can't find people to play this with you are probably wasting your time/money

Which is slightly retarded (not neccessarily your comment but that some fighting game developers tend to see things that way), most FPS these days are not geared towards single player gaming either yet still put good effort into creating a single player experience. Fighting games can be a great single player experience.

For example just about Soul Blade/Calibur, Tekken 6, Virtua Fighter 4+, Super Smash Bros., etc. all have fun single player modes (some of which can tie into multiplayer modes). Guilty Gears XX #Reload actually had a ton of modes oriented at single players* and a pretty decent story mode (though you'd need LSD to make sense of it).

*Not "single players" as in guys who are single and gets a lot of women, but "single players" as in guys who play fighting games by themselves and get no women.

This thread reminded me I bought GGX2 #Reload on GOG months ago and never played it. So I played it, and it's super fun as expected. But I hate I-NO. Angry

Woops! I meant accent core!

and if you read more carefully, I was pointing out that I wouldn't buy the game if I had to play it myself. That's why it was presented as a question, cutie.

Yea, Arc seems to be one of the few companies that realizes that you can please hard core fighting game fans as well as more casual people. Running the risk of having monster king call me a nerd and/or asking for my ban, I'd like to mention that the blazblues after the first one actually kind of make sense without the use of drugs. I heard accent core plus had a pretty good story mode that tied up all lose ends in the guilty gear universe, but I can't confirm this as I haven't played plus.

the story in guilty gear makes a lot of sense:

sol badguy has fire punches and also made monsters but it was all a mistake because of some douchebag
so he decides to kill all the monsters and when he kills the boss monster it was his ex all along and then he goes to kill the rest but one of them is his daughter and she is nice so he decides to make an exception then chipp zanuff wants to be the wapanese president and people still can't get over the fact bridget is male

also why is nip devil sexually harassing me
