UPDATE 02/05/2012 - Here's a proper description of the game:

Alien Worlds Explorer is a 2d scifi landscape creation toy for iPad. Users will be able to add, scale, and colour scenery. Animations will bring the landscape to life. Unlockable achievements will include weather effects and other natural phenomena. Coming soon from Ghostwheel Games.

The game is a weird combination of inspirations. 1.) Star Trek episode "City on the Edge of Forever". I like the idea of looking into a windows to other places and times. 2.) Colorforms. Those vinyl sticker toys. 3.) Mighty Men and Monster Maker.

Teaser image for the iPad game I'm working on with Aquin:

Unlike the other projects I've started on, there is a large chunk of code already written as well as a large chunk of final assets. I'm not going to predict a finish date at this point.

I got the first proper alpha code from Aquin for Alien Worlds Explorer! We have colour and landscape randomization as well as dragging and scaling. Look for video when the new website launches. This is being developed on Windows but it's all OpenGL so it should be easy to port to just about any platform.

Ghostwheel Games and A.W.E. are now on Mod/Indie DB: http://www.indiedb.com/games/awe-alien-worlds-explorer

Includes video of the first code in action!

Also, here is the snazzy icon I made for the game:

Some UI mockups:

Touch and hold on an object and the appropriate control dialog will pop up. In this case, the one for distant objects, like the mountain.

Or a tree.

Are you intending on having some "built-in" worlds to explore, or is it all going to be user created?
Will you be able to download other users' worlds? I watched Shadowcasts 6 and 7 (I watched 5 a while ago, can't remember if it mentioned these)

There will be some presets. There will also be an option to randomly generate landscapes. I honestly didn't even think of having the ability to download other users worlds! That's a good idea though, I'll ask the Aquin if we could do something like that. Thanks. Smiley

A.W.E. is still in active development. Unfortunately, it's taking it's good ol' sweet time. In the meantime I've been learning Construct 2. I'm going to make a separate thread for my Construct stuff. A.W.E. is coming, maybe even this year! Tongue

GhostwheelGames and game projects are suspended indefinitely. Out of money, and time. I tried my best but my best wasn't good enough.
