it's a shame the graphics still look like shit. dark souls was probably one of the ugliest mainstream games I played in the past year or so.

wouldn't have hurt them to turn up the texture resolution just a tad.

It's certainly not that easy, in particular on a console like PS3, to enhance graphics in this kind of games.
I think it would have required changing the engine, which would have taken a lot of years for nothing added to the gameplay.

By the way, did they officially said there would be "a new hero" which would imply a forced character, or is it just what IGN decided to write in their description of the game?

Maybe they are using that terminology to suggest that you aren't the same character you play as in the first game.

Or, maybe that female from the first trailer is super important.

About supposed proportional stamina loss when rolling; Perhaps wearing heavy as shit armor makes rolling cost more?  Or it just costs alot, so you can't roll like a ninja?

If it was straight up proportional, increasing the length of your stamina bar would be pointless.


edit:  Armored turtle mace guy crushes you if you try to backstab him. ok.  Undecided

it could be proportional for rolling but non-proportional for blocking and attacking so that endurance mainly affects blocking and attacking.

i think it'd be good because it'd free up the 40 endurance points you more or less HAVE to invest in dark souls (if they decoupled gear load from it too) for other shit and ultimately allow for more diverse builds.

ofc it'd probably be less intuitive so i still kinda think it's just like the old stamina system lol.

Looks amazing, certainly next-gen ish. I haven't seen a 360 game look that good, and it probably wont. That said I'll have invested in a new pc by next year.

Did anyone else notice in the IGN gameplay interview the main character was switching between 3 different equipped weapons? In dark souls, having 3 weapons equipped like that would have you fat rolling. Does this mean the equipment load/endurance system has been toned down?

That would be easily explained by multiple dimensions structure of the Soul games: Demon Soul is desperate because a demon eat souls in all ldimentions at the same time, which makes it impossible to really end (or maybe it is possible and nobody managed to do it).


I hope one day there would be a community challenge to beat, like they did with Halo3 but smarter (because kill count is not really interesting, maybe accumulating some objects or souls?)

Holy shit that would be the thing.

Then, this boss would have attacks and moves that suggest you need several people by instance to reach it; which would make it impossible to attack alone.

And the place it would be in would be closed if offline.

Thats a thing in Dragons Dogma, more or less.

It'd be so out of place in Dark Souls. It would cease to be lonely and crushing, and instead be just an action thing.
