Thought 4 kings was going to be hard, one of the easiest problably, just attacked with my spear 2 handed and it died in a few seconds.

Yeah, 4 Kings is pretty easy if you circle around 'em - the setting is intimidating, and the trip back is long, but usually you only have to fight one king at a time. And thank god for that, because they totally freak me out. beware of holes
And make sure you have armor with high Curse Resistance - your life depends on it. I used this Spellsword build for my last character. You can blow through the game easily with him even below level 50 - he does decent sword damage and insane magic damage (use the Tin Banishment Catalyst early game). Add in Darkwraith for the badass factor.

beware of holes
Enter depths, clear zombie hordes, kill the butcher who is basically just capra demon lite. See a secret hole! Aha! Must be valuable! Fall into chamber with huge rat. Kill huge rat. Crawl through maze of sewers. Decide not to jump down pit of running water. End up facing summoner and four rats in god knows where. Die, losing my accrued two humanity. Fuck secret holes.

Same thing happened to me the first time, except I killed the mage and then died to the lizards. If you go the exact opposite direction from the secret hole, you can go left and free Laurentius, and then go right and find a bonfire. But, watch for falling objects Also, grab some Purging Stones from Oswald of Carim before you go - if you don't use them now, you'll definitely need them sometime.

just stay hollow
i don't get why you're even using your humanity in the first place instead of just keeping it in your inventory.

Staying hollow doesn't actually do anything besides not letting you summon stuff, so if you're wary of getting invaded, being hollow is the way to go.
(I do know how hard the stuff gets in NG+, I was talking about the main game. But, I could imagine how they could cheese you with their AOE magic attacks...)

That and their HP/defense gets boosted a lot. My problem with 4Kings was that I couldn't get even one killed because I couldn't deal enough damage while still getting a lot myself. Today I finally beat Bed of Chaos with some luck. Now there is Catacombs and Tomb of Giants. Before venturing there I probably have to make a good holy weapon. Any ideas? Alternatively I might just pause and wait till DLC is released (I play PS3 version) and play new content next.

i beat em by two-handing my weapon and just hacking away, throwing in some homing crystal soulmasses and soul spears for good measure. i found that trying to to dodge their attacks is a waste of time. i just wore smough's armor, got up close to them and healed when necessary.
ng+ in this game is really odd. some parts are equally hard or even easier than the first playthrough (p much everything up to anor londo) but some stuff is a ton harder. the 4kings are one of the easier bosses on NG, but on NG+, theyre probably the boss that has taken me the most tries to beat (o&s being a close second)

I didn't had magic in that build and tried only few times. Perhaps pyromancy could have worked, dunno. Other than that all bosses and game so far had been easy in NG+, even Ornstein & Smough. Perhaps my stats were just a bit overpowered in the end (sl over 100).

the four kings is a stupid boss. in ng, at least, you can just wear the heaviest armor and out dps them, since trying to defend or dodge blows just means a second one will probably show up.
i think the unofficial level cap for pc version is 100, so going over that might fuck up your chances of doing any pvp stuff? console version was 120, so some people might still use that in the pc version, i guess. it's definitely 100 for the dlc arena thing, though.

I think one way to fix the grinding issue in this game would be to not get any souls or items from non-persistant enemies (so you mainly just get souls from bosses and mini-bosses, and those hidden soul items), and also not to drop any souls when you die of course (since then you can't grind them back).
What grind? The only grind is getting big titanite and green titanite before you can buy them. And Four Kings does suck. You either learn to dodge and lose, or tank them and win, when the game is all about dodging and blocking.
