I got like 13k souls and 3 humanity sitting in there right now so I'm thinking I'll go human (since rats drop humanity like nothing else for some reason) and summon solaire and leshrac and get an easy win since I can't put pine resin on my sword :c

Oh and I also swapped out my balder shield for a crystal shield. I hate how dumb the crystal shield looks but it has such better resistance and it's not that much heavier at all.

yeah no i mostly meant the bonewheels (FUCK THOSE GUYS) and the tomb of giants in general. i held off on the catacombs till after anor londo / i could one shot the normal skeletons, so catacombs wasn't too bad before the bonewheels.

one funny thing is that in the entrance to the room with the million boner wheels, if they roll into that little pass, and hit the rock wall in a corner, they'll just roll right on through the wall and fall into the void. gotta roll fast

My friend Nortrodamas was busting through my copy for awhile - he'd seen some LPs spoiling him to some of it (wuss), but then he went with a build and a strategy I didn't even think of.

Cleric, with Faith level-ups all the way to 25. He darted around Hellkite Dragon somehow too, and got to the bonfire on the other side, joined the Sunlight Covenant before he even entered Undead Parish, and was treated to some Great Holy Lightning miracle, like a Soul Arrow that does about 400-500 per shot!!

WHAT A GAME CHANGER. I thought the Drake Sword was the "great equalizer," and now I stand corrected!!

But on another level, this was also exactly the kind of thing I wanted to explore and discover on my own, here. Assrabbit...

Today I finally beat Bed of Chaos with some luck. Now there is Catacombs and Tomb of Giants. Before venturing there I probably have to make a good holy weapon. Any ideas? Alternatively I might just pause and wait till DLC is released (I play PS3 version) and play new content next.

Don't even bother with a holy weapon (or do, if you want the achievement, I guess). But, you can still run past the skeletons, kill the necromancer, and then you can kill the skeletons normally. The enemies in Catacombs are not so bad compared to Tomb of the Giants. Even the final boss of the area is lame. Pinwheeel!

(It is pretty cool in how intimidating it is. And thinking about the backstory of how all those bounding demons got there...)

lautrec is bugged and so even though I saved him he is not at firelink and not summonable

furthermore solaire somehow got 3 shot by the gaping dragon which I died to because it has a metric fuckton of health, about 20k souls and 4 humanity in there okay whatever I'm coming back and whoop do fucking do two curse frogs jump out, I roll back and there's another cloud of curse there somehow (no frogs???) and so I get cursed with no purification stones, lose all my phat loot and MAN does it burn my ass.

I'll come back later when I'm less frustrated, I guess

I actually did that in my first playthrough but it was very annoying since necros are most of the time hidden. I could probably OHKO skeletons in catacombs with my Zweihander but with skeletons a big slow sword might be annoying too. I'll see what I'll do when I get back to game.

What is so hard with Gaping dragon...? He is huge and slow. As long as you avoid his jaws and fore legs and instead attack his sides and run away when necessary you should be safe.

There's nothing especially tricky about it, it just took me two attempts to really understand how to do it. Just really pissed that I got fucked over with a BULLSHIT curse losing all my stuff and yeah I don't want to run out and farm 6k souls then run back hope i don't get cursed again and fuck

As I said before, Oswald of Carim gives you half price Purging Stones - he's the best place to get them in the game, period. But, wearing armor with high curse resist helps as a precautionary measure.

What weapon and armor are you using? Note that upgrading your weapon and armor can increase your attack and defense quite well compared to leveling up.

you don't have to fight any frogs to get to the gaping dragon though...?

you do if you fuck up, get lost, and fall down the hole while running around the sewers. that place isn't the easiest to navigate.

oh and dsfix 1.5 came out with the framerate unlock option. you can even manually set the framerate now.

Nothing's really that much of a challenge in terms of combat. I'll head to Parish to find Oswald now :B

I guess having to go back to the depths again will give me another chance to get the spider shield, though. and maybe I'll look up a map that lets me get there without bullshit eye frogs.

Also, is it weird how often sewer rats drop humanities? It's the only thing I've ever seen them drop.
