Andre and I are bros at the moment so I guess I'll just farm up those 20k souls

Also I've been using and plan on using my BKS for the duration of this runthrough. I know it can't ascend or be enchanted but maybe that's not such a bad thing.

There's always time in a NG+ to mix up your weaponry

20k souls isn't really a lot, just do co-op and kill a boss and you should get enough.

Black Knight Sword is actually a pretty good weapon for being able to get it so early in the game. However, overall, Man-Serpent Greatsword is better due to the ability to enchant and the lack of need for dexterity points. Above 30 STR, it's better, period. Black Knight Greataxe is also cool if you get your strength even higher.

Other than that, no other really noteworthy NPCs I can think of. I'm also still before Sen's Fortress 2 so I'm sure I'll meet more people later.

Find Onion Bro, stat!

Killing non-hostile NPCs is considered a sin, I believe. Sure you get to collect their loot, but then every player who is in the vigilante covenant will be trying to kill you (it's how they level up in that covenant). Doesn't mean it ain't worth it tho, hehe.

You know what's really satisfying in this game?  Mastering your favorite weapon.
I've just practiced killing zombies while two-handing a longsword for a bit, and now I've cleaned out that annoying spell-caster + 1000 pink zombie room and the boss conan the barbarian style first try.  Tears of Joy

You're next, Capra demon.

I'd definitely purchase this game if I had an actual PC or a console

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdOYJAXo_2U

It looks so good at more than 5fps

And PVP looks so fun

Speaking of needing an actual PC, I'm running Dark Souls on pathetic settings and my framerate slowed to DISMAL NOTHINGNESS when Sif showed up.

So I cannot fight Sif because the game is just staggered.

This is going to be an issue...

I have, but I just kick their butts - free EXP! (But usually only in heavily trafficked areas)

Absolving your sins at Owsald is only good to get the NPCs to stop attacking you (e.g. if you don't want to kill them, which you shouldn't. Well, except for Lautrec and Petrus, they should be murdered in the slowest way possible.

Just started. Tutorial was pretty smooth, but after that I've already got the crap kicked out of me a few times just for wandering about.
Apparently 99 bleed resistance isn't the lot it sounds like.

I'm enjoying it thus far, but there's a fine line between not coddling the player and not explaining a thing at all. Kind of concerned it'll have the EYE problem where constant incremental stat increases feel pointless because the difference is too fine. But we'll see!
Seems like equipment is way more important anyway. Now I need to find out why.

Also, this game reminds me of Colossus in a million tiny ways, which is good

The only time I've ever encountered it is with the assassin guys (and the dogs?) before the Capra Demon.

yeah i've definitely had the bleed bar fill up a couple times. i concur it's not very important and it's probably not worth paying attention to bleed resistance tho.

also upgrading your "resistance" stat is p much pointless.

sounds like he might have wandered around to the back of Firelink to the graveyard and/or to the catacombs. I'm pretty sure those skeletons can make you bleed.

The only stats you really need to worry about (assuming a melee character) are Endurance, Vitality, and Strength or Dexterity depending on what kind of weapon you want to use (up to a maximum of 40, or 27 if you plan to two-hand). The only other time you want to upgrade other stats is for item requirements.

I would recommend skimping on VIT/END and leveling INT or FAI instead - it might not give you as much defense, but it's a lot more fun than a pure melee build and you can enchant weapons. Attunement is useful too, but not above 4 slots.

Beat Taurus Demon, but not before losing everything I had.

Whoever said this game has no grind was a liar, assuming fighting/running past the same damn things over and over counts as grind

Also, having X (square) not be attack is messing me up more than anything else about the controls.
Too many beatemups

If I've got a big stack of souls and don't feel like losing them and there's no real point in buffing any stats too far, what should I do with them? I don't feel like losing a few thousand again.

put em into vit or end

can't go wrong with that

it's generally a bad idea holding large amounts of souls, even when walking through areas you've beaten levels and levels ago

(also the game does have grind; i spent an hour farming humanity from rats in the depths, and another hour farming for souls to buy large titanite for my katana upgrades but i actually LIKE the combat in the game, so i'm okay with it)
