Just beat the Blood-starved beast after way too many tries. Whew!
I almost crapped my pants when I died to one of the big guys with a bag running around in the streets near Odeon Chapel after that and ended up in a completely different place, abducted. The music in that area is shortening my life span with every minute I spend there. Thankfully I found the way out after running into the giant lightning beast and dying once.
Tried my first Chalice Dungeon. Had to google if I can stop and pick back up later - turns out I can! That's great.

just beat it. 28 hours. i missed at least 3 bosses outside of chalice dungeons, and i only completed 1 full level of the chalice dungeon. i was level 69 and got the true ending despite the whore being killed by that shithead beggar. there are actually 4 thirds of umbilical cord you can find and you dont have to kill her baby to get it.
speaking of killing babies, bravo for them straight up making you kill children and babies. you just dont see that often enough.
i am playing through it again with a new character and im going to really take my time and wiki-watch while i play. first play through was mostly blind. because of that i missed all covenants, npc quest lines, and a shit load of secrets. i would like to buy the hard cover guide when it comes out. they are pretty nice.
but uh... yeah the game is a masterpiece. i dont know what to say. its just as good as dark souls and better in some ways.

yep. easily one of my all time favorites. I'm also going through it again for the stuff I missed, absolutely loving it. its pure bliss knowing I still have more to see while I replay so much good shit.
I preordered the future press guide a while ago, I will let you guys know how it is when I get it.

Normally I frown upon trolling, but this was too fun.
My wife and I got another player to help us and we decorated up the Iron Keep in Dark Souls 2 with glowing pale stones, like some kind of bad rave. We then activated random invade signs and my wife and the other player hid while I lured the unsuspecting invader to the bridge where we'd catch them in a pincer attack and wipe them out in mere seconds. It was hilariously terrible, I'd feel bad but the large collection of Human Effigies I stocked up (and split with the team) eased the pain of my conscience a little. Well that, and the sheer number of invaders running lag switches or otherwise trying to cheat. I got a lot of hate mail, it was great.

Btw in case you guys didnt know this yet: the talk about the 25 "soft cap" for SKL and STR is plain bullshit. Yes there are "diminished returns" but theyre so slight that its still more than worth it investing into these stats above 25. i think some ppl saw that you only get 1 point of dmg between 25 and 26 and assumed that's it, but in typical souls fashion it changes around a bit in diff level ranges and depending on your weapon's scaling ofc.

Reading that story doc really gave me Berserk vibes. I mean DkS and DS were already almost "Berserk the video game" but this time the story itself reminds me a lot of stuff going on in Berserk. And now I'm sad that I can't play this game and Berserk is probably a dead manga  |
