I just read it right now for the first time.

Now I wanna make a game with a similar thematic. I know that there already is an adventure game of that story, but I was thinking a more abstract, Cactus-style game.

In fact, Cactus should make his own version of IHNMAIMS. That would win so hard.

I know Terry has a very high opinion of that game.  I've not played it, but have read the story; not my favourite story by H.E., to be sure, but solid enough.  Should go and play it some time.

Alas no, I read them IRL; terry lent me a book...so if you want it, you'll have to ask him Wink

(he's notoriously litigious I think; you're probably going to get a cease and desist order from his lawyers any day now for linking to that story Wink  )

I've just read it. It was really interesting to say the least. I'll have to find some of his other works.

I wonder. Could you make a game where you were the computer, trapped forever with nothing to do but mess with some human playthings? Would certainly be a new take on the Petz style game.

Erm...it already exists

(more seriously, one could point to the sims, or any god games, as examples of this sort of stuff I think...unless you had something more particular in mind?)

Thanks Melly. I wanted to read this for some time, since I played the game. It's good.

As for the game, it's a really good idea, but I have no idea how it would be.

That's what came to mind for me too. I just played it recently (it was very hard to get working on modern computers).

Yeah, I absolutely love this game Smiley One of my all time favorites, actually - the short story was interesting, but for me only as the source material for the game.

I've read a few of Harlan Ellison's short stories; my favorite by far is ""Repent, Harlequin!" Said the Ticktockman".

That was pretty good. Gotta say it'd be much better as a full length novel though, there certainly is enough concept behind it to support it. Still haven't played the game though. I've been meaning to for a long time now.

I guess a novel could go into more detail about each character, much like the game does. Including AM's distorted psyque.

Another IHNMAIMS themed game would be cool.  I played through one character's scenario in the adventure game recently, and it's pretty disturbing/fun how AM just messes with you.

I think this tread is terribly wrong. What the title and link meant to say: I Have Now Words & I Must Design.
