Thought I'd update this thread as I moved on from making the above platform game and onto another RTS idea. It's really early days but basically will be like a defend your basecamp, collect gold for building defences, add elements of Dungeon Keeper and even Syndicate all mixed together in a wild west setting.
As I was making the platform adventure game, the engine started to open up some new game play possibilities. This combined with putting the finishing touches on Battle Keep (we are close with launching the beta for Battle Keep but are solving the server infrastructure which will allow the multi player aspect and is proving costly ... but stay tuned it's almost in place!)

Basic 'fog of war'
Fleshing it out using some Battle Keep sprites for speed. You will see there is going to be a map display of some sort which grows the more you explore and you inventory / tools menus.
