The Kingdoms of Whitechester and Blackedonia have endured a perpetual war against each other, with neither side having a decisive advantage against the other. But one day, a great curse fell upon both sides, having their inhabitants lose their memory, only retaining their allegiance and duty towards their kingdom. This new theater of war has presented a grea oportunity towards both side to finally tip the scales and win the war once and for all.Overview
Chess Mafia is a party game based on Mafia/Werewolf. Unlike a standard game, there is not a town vs mafia/werewolves taming, rather there are two balanced teams (Black and White Kingdoms), and the goal of each team is to kill the opposing player's King. King is protected all nights by the royal guard, which means he can only be executed during the day.
Roles are divided using the Chess ranks, and will include at least one King and one Pawn. Eevery other role's presence during the game will be defined on the total amount of players, with the queue as follows: Bishop, Knight, Rook and Queen; remaining players will be Pawns. Each player gets only informed of his/her role and affiliation, but he won't know who are his/her companions (possibly excluding the king, but that's to be decided).
Each day, all players vote for someone to be executed every day. Players who abstain to vote will be executed as well. During the night, players can choose to perform a task corresponding to their respective role.RolesKing
The grand ruler of his grand kingdom, within him lies the stability of government .Should he fall, the entire kingdom will collapse with him, giving the victory to the enemy. Thankfully, the only way for a King to die would be by public execution, for he is protected by his unbreakable royal guard every night.Royal Command:
Targets a player; if targeted player belongs to the King's side, the King can choose to override the target's actions, else, nothing happens.Queen
Queens have always been popular with handling justice for the kingdoms. Within them lies the responsibility of disposing of the enemy who dares to threat the kingdom.Royal Execution:
Targets a player; targeted player gets killed.Bishop
Second only to the regents, Bishops have the role to lead their people towards spiritual ascendance.Spiritual Census:
Targets a player; Bishop learns the role, but not afiliation, of the targeted player. If targeted player is a Bishop or a King, he will be identified as a Pawn instead.Knight
Brave warriors, crippled of their might by this curse, have now the task to overwatch the events transpiring.Scouting:
Target player; if targeted player is targeted by an ability, reveal the identity of the targeting player, but not the ability.Rook
Mighty settlements that ensure the safety of its inhabitants.Housing:
Targets a player; if player belongs to the Rook's side, the targeted player gets protected against any other ability.Pawn
The armed peasants of the kingdom, they may not be powerful, but their devotion towards their kingdom grants them great determination at detterrig the opposition.Shield:
Targets a player, canceling the targeted player action, including King's Override skill.Ability Execution Order
As a way to prevent any confusion as to how abilities will be executed in case of a possible confusing scenario, there is a very explicit method on how each command gets executed. Please not that this is quite nerdy and probably won't be even taken into account for the most part, but it will be presented here regardless should an ambiguous scenario happen.
Previous to execution, a stack will be formed with the following priority:
- Rook protections
- Pawn cancellations
- King redirections
- Queen assassination
- Knight feedback queries
- Bishop feedback queries
Please note that the priority is applied regarding the target, not the source. A pawn will cancel any Rook before they can protect anyone, but can't cancel a Rook-protected player.
Pawn cancellations occur from a bottom up ranking. If Pawn A tries cancel King B, and Pawn C tries to cancel Pawn A, the procedure is that Pawn C, since he is targeting another Pawn, will have priority; so in the end, Pawn C cancels Pawn A before he has chance to cancel King B.
Circular references, like two Pawns cancelling each other, or both Kings redirecting each other, will actually cancel all players involved in the reference, and will be informed that they were blocked somehow. Assuming no other ability affects plays involved in the reference.Enlistment
All participants must prove the loyalty to their kingdoms by giving a finely carved chess piece as tribute.Player List
