I could say if it brings subtitles in Castilian.
The official website is unclear.

Thank you.

He said something factually true, in a mean way, because he had a very short period of time to answer and to have an impact. I will not fault him for taking the chance and doing something with it, rather than giving some sort of diplomatic response.
I would have said this way if I didn't liked modern Japanesse games:
"I don't like them, because [brief explanation why I didn't like them]"
Not that hard.

I'd buy two copies.

I had a person in another forum calling me jealous simply for criticizing Phil Fish.

March 09, 2012, 05:08:53 pm

Never forget.

Also, I've you heard about these persons complaining about the Syrian dictator. SO JELLY.
(exaggerated example, but same point)

@raydog - to be clear i don't think he's "technically correct" in all aspects -- i feel that modern japanese games are no worse than modern western games. i feel that both of them are terrible, and that the criticisms he and blow have of modern japanese games apply just as strongly to modern western games
I'd say it is the lack of diversity that sucks the most, not so much the games. I mean there are some stinkers out there, and there always will be, but there are a lot of fun entertaining games as well.

It kind of parallels with food sales. When you go to the cereal aisle of the grocery store, for example, you will see dozens of boxes of what are essentially the same cereal that are just rebranded. This doesn't mean they taste bad by default, but the more boxes of Cheerios and Cheerios knockoffs you see on the shelf the less you will see of other varieties that could have been placed there (GameStop exhibits this well).

All these boxes of Cheerios are there because people keep buying them so the store keeps restocking them, and the better they sell the more knockoffs and variations (Apple Cinnamon Cheerios, Honey Nut Cheerios, Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic Riders, etc.) sit on the shelf next to them. Some of them taste nearly identical to the main brand, some of them pale in comparison. Eventually, though, when you've had your fill of Cheerios and Coco Puffs and you want something of a different flavor you'll have to hit the specialty stores.

That is where the industry is at now, at least in my eyes. Games, regardless of what art they are comprised of, are mainstream consumer goods so it is not too shocking that they suffer the same fate as other mainstream consumer goods. Modern games don't suck, mainstream variety sucks.

The difference is that Kenji Inafune answer wasn't "Your games suck.". There's no problem on him disliking modern Japanese games, but he was too bland on his answer, specially considering he was talking with a complete stranger who happened to be Japanese.
It's worth pointing out that Inafune is mainly talking about sales. It's impossible to dispute that the Japanese game industry is making a lot less money than it used to and that "Western" (i.e. American) games are selling much better.

Also Fil Phish and Jon Blow's "criticisms" of Japanese games (too linear, too handholdy etc.) are pretty much 100% applicable to modern American games. Also they're more or less based on like Zelda Skyward Sword and some other Wii game so yeah.

a few days ago i logged on to msn (it's like aim but for effete europeans, such as myself, super joe) and saw phil fish was online. having not spoken to him for what feels like it must be several years now, my heart skipped a beat. worried by this cardiac arrhythmia i immediately called for an ambulance (by bellowing very loud out of a window, as is the custom in europe, the land of my birth). i explained the situation to the paramedics, and they simply nodded to one another and said "gone fishing" and sped towards the infirmary. once there, i was placed in a ward full of others similarly starstruck by potential brushes with phil fish, indie game icon and star of indie game: the movie.

I don't get that impression about Inafune's stance on Japanese games.
