Apples (working title) is a simple 2D side-scroller game I've been working on Unity for almost 1 month. This game is a small one-man school project, which I'm planning to put in my portfolio.

The idea is pretty simple: You roll the apple through the stages with arrow keys, collecting stars.

My current todo-list:

- Checkpoint system, so you don't have to start from the beginning when you die
- Sound fxs when the apple is colliding with other objects
- ?

I'd appreciate it if you could test the demo build and leave me feedback or throw in some ideas if something pops into your head!  Smiley

Don't expect anything groundbreaking.  Grin

You can test it webplayer. (30mb)

or download the game from here. (40mb)

edit: Forgot to say that the first level is still incomplete. When you feel like you're falling into the void and nothing's happening, you have beaten the game! There's currently 44 Stars in the game, see if you can find them all!   Grin

Sorry for the large file sizes. Especially the web build, it takes forever to load.
I'll try to make them smaller.

I like being able to play in the browser since I'm not on a PC currently and the downloadable version doesn't work but 30 megs for a web game is a bit much I think, as you said. The unity player doesn't cache stuff either, so everytime you play you re-download the game.

That said, very iteresting choice of protagonist! Though it would make more sense if was a football or something, that we are used to seeing rolling around. Apples ... not so much Smiley

I got really lost in the level, it seems huuuge and on the first time I fell into the void somewhere with no option to restart. Had to refresh the page and download the game again. So I'm not really sure where to go. If I fall down from the mushrooms, I can't seem to find a way up again. Can I? Is that the right way? What am I looking for? Some pointers would be nice. Literally, put small arrows in the level or something to indicate where to go. After all, it's the first level. Are there more? Also, nice 'roll of faith' place you got there. At first I thought it was a bug and I was going to come and complain but then said 'I see what you did there.'

Another small thing, if the up and down arrow don't do anything, don't display them in the beginning of the level. Just show the left and right arrow. It's a bit confusing atm.

I like the music.

edit: Yup, even if I get pass the mushrooms I still end up in the bottom there and eventually roll off some boxes and planks to the left into the void.

Eigen, I forgot to say that the first level is still incomplete and it ends when you're falling into the void. At this point, refreshing is the only way to restart the game from there.

I'll try to add some arrow pointers to show the right way. And fix the sign in the beginning!
Thanks!

Oh, if that's actually the right way, then I guess the pointers are not neccesary because you always end up down there no matter where you go. The level sort of leads you there, which I guess is a sign of good level design.
