Hello everyone,

Been reading this forum for a long time (and learned a lot) so thought it was time to register and post my first game and see if I could get any feedback. It's a fantasy monster rpg and I would say it's a mix of final fantasy and pokemon. But I made it so you can also play online. I could say a lot more but think my playthrought video say a lot.

It's still in early alpha but would be good to hear what other say about it. Everything is done by me except for the music that I used as a placeholder.

I really like the gameplay and art style on this game, but there are quite a lot of typos in the dialogue and the general game, and I was wondering whether I could help to maybe correct them for you? Sorry if this comes off as obnoxious but I'd just like to help  Smiley

Yes of course you can help with that, English is not my native language so any help is appreciated. Sometimes you get blinded by checking your own dialogs and think it look okay but still miss a lot.  Smiley

Cool, you should probably just make a google docs of the dialog files for people to help with.

I've played a little bit.
(2 monsters, first monster level 2)

- I've choosed the nature monster and after each fight I must come back and save. (I'm short on health) Is it normal?
- By the way, I gain oly one Exp for each battle, so it's a  little long to level up ^^.
- Is it possible to switch between my pets in battle?

Sorry but your google doc is view only which means I can't edit it.
EDIT: Nevermind I've got it now, I'm working on it now.

For the first two, yeah the pacing is a bit off right now. I would say the nature one is also the weakest at the start. They are all:

1. Fire - mostly damage and speed
2. Water - mostly defense
3. Nature - For buffs and heals (you can check the menu and he learn a heal at lvl 4)

But if you must heal after every fight it's really bad. I'm gonna check, it should at least be okay with 3-4 Smiley For the xp, it maybe is a bit low. You get pretty good xp from other npcs battles but the wild ones is pretty low.

I think I will try to take a better look at the pacing for next release. When I played it through myself I also thought it was kinda hard (if I didn't grind).

For the switching, no you can only switch outside of battle. I'm also thinking about different systems for switching.

1. Either you can only switch at a saving stone
2. You can switch anywhere and the monster you switch too will get out with the same percent health as the one you switched with.

If I go with 2 I don't see any reason to not be ablt to switch in battle. You think that is needed? In later parts of the game you will be able to use up to four monsters at the same time so then switching won't be just as necessary.

Thanks for the feedback!

This is a pretty impressive start for what looks like an ambitious project, and I wish you luck.

I would say though that there's some weird mixing of pixel resolutions, with the characters being at half the resolution of thing like the particle effects.  You could also use sound effects.  Even simple sound effects from a program like sfxr would do wonders.

Anyway, it's a nice start.  Keep it up.   Beer!

If we can have a team of monters later, I don't think switching is needed.
Good luck with your game!

Thanks for the commen. I'm gonna try to download that program because I understand what you mean. You expect some sound effect when attacking or just picking up an item, but I don't really have any good for it yet.

I been checking out different applications for music/sound and it's really a jungel for new people like me.

Hello everyone,

It's been awhile since I posted here and I feel I should update with a new version. I tried to change a couple of things from the feedback I got and in the end it was a lot that changed.

But the big ones are:

- You don't fight with your monsters anymore. You still collect enemies but instead you use them as class/job instead. So you get their attacks (and some of the stats) but still fight with the main character.

- Equipment

- New story (because the old one didn't fit the new system).

I made a new video as you can watch here:

Some new pictures here:

And to download/see patch note you can check here:

Thanks for the feedback

For me the graphical style was spot on, i wasnt too keen on the cave environment as it felt a little empty but i really loved the outdoor and house interiors. Also, as previously mentioned some of the pixel resolutions are slightly mixed.

Great work!
