Hi, I wanted to see if you guys might be interested in my game I recently put on kickstarter. Also maybe would you mind giving me some input? Here: http://kck.st/MlkjhGPaper Sorcerer is a first-person turn-based RPG with adventure game elements inspired by Wizardry, Dungeons and Dragons, and Shadowgate. For those who haven't played Wizardry, it plays kinda like Etrian Odyssey.

Really like your game aesthetics, great look Only issue I have is that the player stats at the bottom seem to clash with the great style you have for the rest of the gameplay. Not sure about the colours being used there. Seem like placeholders compared to the polished art.

The hell is wrong with you, with all those flashy colory bars like that?! I like the premise of your game. Too bad I spent 77.000 euros in a house.

Thanks for the feedback! Oh, yeah, the screenshots are from an older version, I've taken care of the colors since then. At that time, I had just dropped them in and wanted to see that they worked.
The font too? What kind of font would you suggest, could you give me an example?

Here's a slightly more recent screenshot with the updated bar colors. I plan to make an image for the bars, but working out gameplay/battle mechanics first.

Grey the bars, just for a test, yo. "GOBLIN" almost reads "GOBUN" I'd just add a bit more spacing between chars and possibly bold it.

I put up some new stuff now. A new gameplay video and a new reward tier that includes the extra summons with a digital copy of the game, at $15. video: http://youtu.be/g7iU7-Rik2cAlso in this build I implemented the bar graphics, and in testing different images, I settled on less colors, with gray bars for defense and energy. As always, input would be greatly appreciated. More screenshots:

The video is looking great and like your character designs.
Still not a fan of the stats though. Like new colours but think they would work better even more simplified, by removing the textures and keeping flat. Game is looking good though. Are you planning on releasing a demo?

Hey, I really like that you're trying out a new style. I think there's a niche market for something like this. What are you building this in by the way?

I hate first person battle systems so ferioucly, but I can make an exception with this one as it suit the rest of the game view.
I'll bee looking for that one. Seem to have some interresting art/game mechanics.

Thanks for the input guys, I appreciate it. I'm planning to start distributing demos near the end of July. I'm working with the Unity engine. It may not be the reason you don't like first person battles, but if it helps, I'm making sure you can see all your summons attack. Most people I've met that don't like first person battles, it's because you don't see your characters. So even from the beginning I've made sure to have animations for the summons attacking. I glad you guys like the art style, I spent a lot of time developing it, feels good man.

It’s cool to see your development process from the early stages, you should do a little doco about making the game and your whole experience once it’s complete. The paper aesthetics are beautiful, I agree about the front on battle thing but you’re right, judging from the video the animations make it work for me. A little different in style but you might find some inspiration in paper cut out animation if you’re running low on ideas. There’s a guy called Lotte Reiniger who made a lot of silhouette animation in the 30’s which is quite cool. Also, not so much paper but definatly inspired by that medium is The Mysterious Explorations of Jasper Morello: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vORsKyopHyM What are you thinking about for sound and music? It could be really cool if you used some paper sounds for certain aspects to highlight the medium which you are emulating while at the same time, certain objects could be made incredibly physical by use of realistic audio (say like a heavy iron door opening). The contrast and combination of both styles could be interesting. Also, have you considered voice acting? If done properly it could really bring to life the story. Looking forward to a demo! Good luck with your funding :D
