I was programming a utility to make it easier to make metatile-based screens on the NES, and I wanted to have the start and select buttons fill the box quickly. I didn't work but it produced some neat results. Load this in your favourite emulator and see it for yourself. It behaves differently for each tile number. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/53366073/screenmakerglitch.nes

I think you programmed fractals by accident.

Also: GI. I'd love to see the results and your methods and findings when you're done with the topic.

The GI thing was finished some time ago, I just kept those shots. Will do a write-up soon and post it on my devlog. Thanks for your interest!

We used to be promised that virtual reality would look like this. I'm still waiting for somebody to fulfill that promise.

Two buggy stages of radiosity implementation: Sierpinskiland Pastel I love these, especially the first! It's what I'd want a game set on some psychedelic space colony to look like.

Starting to wonder if somebody should just go ahead and make a game with those colors (maybe adjusting the contrast to make things easier to see, but you get the idea).

Which part is the mistake? Looks like a pretty solid mechanic to me.

Probably not intended to give that much freedom. Could make for a good late game power-up though (think of how overpowered are some of Metroid's power-ups and you'll get what I mean).

I like the way you think. Well, I'm genuinely confused. I'm assuming you're not supposed to be able to dash like that indefinitely, but given the little area showcased there, I'm not sure how you'd get through it without multiple dashes. And I think that could be a solid mechanic. You could have some hellishly difficult spike mazes, requiring a LOT of dashes like that, with brief areas of flat ground to touch down on and take a breather.

Funny you suggest that, that's the entire concept of the game. Seriously. I should have specified that the actual glitch was the dust clouds trailing the character mid-air. They're only supposed to appear upon colliding with the wall or jumping. I thought it looked cool as it reminding me of like a jet ski or something similar, just in the air. I should have elaborated, my mistake. Thanks though! That turned out to be awesome compliment!

Ohhh, that ISN'T supposed to be there? It does look neat, though. lol
But it's neat we were thinking the same thing. This sounds fun!

Well, I'd say leave the trail there, it can help not keeping the player's short term memory loaded (since they can see where they were a bit ago without having to remember it, just look at the screen). May want to replace the sprite for something more fitting though (since it looks like the current one is only for stepping on the floor).

I should probably disable physics on bullet shells. And this could be a totally legit tactic and not a bug with the animation controller.
