This is kinda old but it's still pretty relevant

I was making like a top-down mouse shooter and somehow I made it so instead aiming with the gun, the player ended up aiming with the duck  Tears of Joy

it probably happened in response to trying to fix this

Based on the original definition, I'm not sure if my example qualifies, but I recently produced something that I think was pretty cool, but I considered it a failure.  Check this out, from my attempt at using UDK to make a transparent landscape for water, and placing it in a regular landscape...



"...I thought it was going to be a great idea:  Instead of going into a separate 3D modeling program to make every separate river, lake, and waterfall in the game, painting the flow around every bolder, and then importing the model, I could just make a material in UDK that could do everything for me... What you see there is a translucent animated water material, placed into a landscape material, that switches to an animated 3D projection waterfall texture when the normal hits a certain threshold. And the water material has different terrain layers that are just different panners attached to the same texture, so you can paint the direction you want the water flow. I switched back and forth between the water landscape and a land landscape to get the two to fit together.  And you might think from this first little experiment that we’re off to a good start. Well, we’re not. This breaks so much stuff that I’ve had to reinstall UDK twice, and I’m not going to try it again."



I actually did end up getting it working (http://himekosutori.com/?p=255), but it was a real pain.

You know, some of these Beautiful Fails can be grouped together, and maybe we can have some sort of a "modern" art museum, only difference is that the artists are programmers not sleeping well and making typos! Cheesy

Tip of the day: staring at a bright monitor in a dark room/night time where you should sleep is bad for the eyes! Wink
or is it only me that people actually mind me leaving the lights on in the middle of the night?  XD

All the AI racers are trying to move to the lead cars next navigation node regardless of their current position on the track resulting in some unwanted behaviour.
