I'm talking about the Amputator and, I guess, that statue he gets (though the statue is not as good)
There's no reason to use the normal saw once you have one of those.

Still it isn't as bad as you think since taunting leaves you open, and makes noise.

I actually like TF2 more the way it is now and I've been playing since 07 am I a bad person? No you are not. I'm really excited for whatever's coming. A lot of people say Meet the Pyro will finally come out. Whatever it is, I have a shitload of pocketlint, goldfish, and bananas and two planks. I hope they are actually useful somehow other than that stupid word puzzle Valve was running. (I bet no one actually figured out the puzzles and the devs just got tired of waiting, so they posted the solutions to the wiki themselves).

I think someone on SPUF figured it out before it was posted to the wiki.
Anyway I have like 10 barn door planks and pieces of lint taking up space in my backpack that I would like to do something with because I'm running out of space and don't want to buy a backpack expander.

I honestly think that's the best thing they could have done to keep it from getting stale. The original was elegantly designed, but without all the added content, it would died out a lot sooner. Online multiplayer games only get their one big break before something new comes along.
Counter-Strike respectfully disagrees. I was so looking forward to a more team and tactics -oriented game where the first person to headshot as soon as they see the enemy, doesn't win. Then... then the updates happened. Sigh; back to Counter-Strike.

http://www.teamfortress.com/pyromania/doomsday/huh a new game mode and meet the pyro is announced so far. slightly interested in the new game mode, even if it doesn't sound that dissimilar from what is already in the game. couldn't give a shit less about meet the pyro though. those videos are dumb.

I think it's pretty shallow how many people have stopped playing TF2 purely for the fact that it is being exploited for money. Next time someone tells me they don't care about graphics so long as the game is fun, I'm going to tell them to play TF2.

I'm not sure I'm aware of many people who quit playing because of the hats and advertisements, but I know a lot of people who quit because of the new weapons. there are so many and they're an awful mess. the game was better off without them, and that's why I stopped playing.

Graphics vs aesthetics. TF2 was designed as it was to facilitate gameplay. Watch Valve's paper on the artistic choices in TF2 - And then marvel how they stomped all over their own brilliant design. Additionally, you're dismissing the fact that there are as of writing about 150 weapons in the game. It's not just about aesthetics, but that you just can't play the game anymore. When TF2 was released, you could easily identify a class and their weapon (and thus, could make informed decisions in the game world). Now... it's one big clusterfuck where you can't tell anything apart anymore. That impacts gameplay.

I play TF2 fairly regularly and I don't really feel like I have a problem telling classes apart. It doesn't have the original simplicity, but I think the developers realized as the game grew how it was to be played, and that is sort a silly, light fun gameplay, not super competitive. Fun hats and crazy weapons contribute to the "new" TF2 aesthetic, and while it's different, I don't think it's any less valuable than the original. Heavies still look like heavies and snipers still look like snipers. Weapons and hats don't dramatically affect the silhouette of each class, which is really the biggest characteristic the artists sought to develop as a visual differentiator.

Additionally, if you don't like it, there are vanilla TF2 servers that disallow loadouts. Want a more team oriented experience? tf2lobby.com can help. (Of course it's more competitive)
