This is not about the first game you played. You remember when you first started making games? You know how your first game was probably horrible. I wanted to see everyones first ever attempt at making a game, just for fun. My first game was called Bouncing Happytime(great name, I know) It was an action maze game. It was made with gamemaker, so that is why there are all the example gamemaker backgrounds and text boxes. At the first menu, you'll notice that it is extremely difficult to proceed from the starting menu. This is because gamemaker has pixel perfect collisions and I didn't know how to turn it off at the time. You need to click exactly on the letters in the menu words. When you finally pass the menu, you'll see your character, which has a bunch of white shards floating around it that I never bothered to erase. The game also has no instructions, so after the first few levels you'll have no idea what to do. The game is also super luck based, with enemies that warp to a random place every frame. Is anyone else's worse? If you want a laugh, you can download it here. Here is also a screenshot. http://sandbox.yoyogames.com/games/64834-bouncing-happy-time/download I look forward to seeing some other first games!

A stupid select-a-death-of-a-hated-character game crappily done in Flash 8 on Newgrounds. Not a clue where that even ended up.

I don't have it any more, but my first game was a single screen platformer with Klik and Play. It was called "Billy Bob's Adventure!" and the protagonist had a pistol that could shoot giant bullets. He went through a series of levels, starting with grasslands, then a sky world with an airplane (like in Super Mario Land) then a construction site. All the graphics were drawn by me (in MSPaint), without using any of the klip art. My favorite part was a battle with a giant bomb you had to diffuse by running to a faucet, filling your gun with water, then running back to the fuse to extinguish it. I got to world 4, the water level, then never finished the game.

I took Game Maker's FPS example, replaced the sprites, and made a few crappy levels. That was a huge accomplishment for 10-year-old me.

Earliest one I still have, ~July 2001. I think I made a few even worse ones before it but I don't have them anymore.

Made a game called Tilted World of Death 6 years ago that revolved around exploring a side-scrolling platformer with the background looking like a top-down view of the world (as if you were exploring a flat world tilted on its side). It's a action/puzzle-oriented platformer with upgrades and bosses. The file is "rpg full.exe" here: http://www.host-a.net/u/vinheim3but I can't seem to get it to run

Seeing Tails crossed out like that made me absolutely lose it... I don't know why, but it's the funniest thing I've seen in weeks... Let's see...My first completed game was a mediocre Beatmania-like for LÖVE 0.5. People seemed to like it, though... And then before that is like a 3-year-long stretch of abandoned platformers, resolution mixing, and of course M y D r e a m R P G ™

Well I guess technically my first game was a click the ball game I made in Game Maker following a tutorial. Other than that there are of course multiple failed MMO attempts, and one mostly successful 3D first person platformer I did in Unity

First game I made was essentially battleship with resource management for 2 players. I wrote it in BASIC using only the if, goto, print and input commands (iirc). I was like 11 or 12.
