Here is a refresher of how the challenges work:

-I (The host) will provide a theme for the challenge
-You will be given ONE THREE WEEKs to compose a song with said theme
-You will post your song HERE, in the official challenge thread
-Other participants will listen to your song. You will listen to other participants' songs. Critique will be had.
-A winner will be chosen by the host.
-The winner will host the next challenge.

As this is the ninth musical challenge I thought an RPG theme would be in order a la Dragon Quest IX

Challenge Theme:

-Make a "battle" theme for a turn-based RPG (any style: fantasy, scifi, realistic, Poke-ish).  Loopable and 30 seconds or less.

-Must be a new track made for this challenge (thats the whole point, right?)

-Entires must be posted by Sunday Midnight EST on July 15.  I am giving 3 weeks to maximize participation and enjoyment.

I appreciate the efforts taken to increase participation! I'll definitely want to get back into these challenges. Sad to have only been involved in 3.

I like the 30 seconds or less - you'll have to make a real big impact with very little time and it'll be very interesting to see how everyone approaches loopability!

Here's hoping for a big turn out :   ) GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!

Question: Are we allowed to enter multiple tracks, or only one track per person? I already have a track, but I think I can do better, so I'm not sure if I should post it.

Well, better track made. I can also post the old one if multiple entries are allowed.

For the Colony!
It's a battle theme for a sci-fi setting.

The 30-second limit was more difficult than expected. Getting enough variation in to avoid being too repetitive while still making a memorable tune is much more difficult in 30 seconds than in, say, one minute.

This is just what I was looking for!  It's cool if I get a little experimental with this right?

I like these challenges.. hopefully they continue to happen.  A good excuse to force myself to be creative.  hah.  I missed out on the last one, due to shitty work and a awesome vacation.. but I was able to spend some time to make something for this one, thankfully.  I might return to it to mix it a little better.. but for now, here's my submission.

Also, I made a sort of "intro" part to it that I cut out of that version... if you care, I uploaded a more "full" version onto my soundcloud as well.

Is there a specific program we should be using or is it a free-for-all?
