Well its been a while since I've had chance to do some solid work on this but im back with an update!
The code was getting too messy and I've not had much time to work on the project for many reasons and I didnt want to just mash a few extra features into the messy code so I've been waiting for time to clean the code.
I decided to change the way that the maps are loaded in and i've managed to cut down about 500 lines of code from both character movement and map loading. I've also added in better menus including a main menu from the escape button that pauses the game and allows the player to toggle between full screen and windowed, more options will be added later. Inventory has been updated to allow for more items to be added to the game very easily, meaning level design will be faster.
A friend is working on a new improved map editor to help me out and once its done I aim to create about 15 different areas for the first zone. I want these to be quite large with lots of places the player has the option of exploring.
Thats about it as far as features go but as the code works MUCH better. As a result many features have been taken out of this latest build. This version also uses a new image loader though its not quite finished and so image quality is very bad, and the game is missing textures.

But im moving faster than ever and The old features should be back in within 2 weeks time!
As this is still a solo project the game wont be finished for some time, though I am trying to get a few people to join in on the project.
