Goddamn it.

Every time. I had the ability to kill someone, but I thought, foolishly, that I'd save it for later.

I might run one of these in the next day or so, if you like. Have an idea.

If you went with the convention when running a game of killing yourself on day zero, you could one-up all the people who have killed you on day one. Imagine the possibilities when you can claim: "Killing me on day one? That's nothing, you amateurs, I did it on day zero".

I was a Night Guard

Quote
The night has always been your home.

The stars have been your guides, the moon your light, the clouds your cover; you've always felt perfectly at peace, watching the town slumber around you, at rest.

Silence. Stillness. Shadow. The world is so much simpler, makes so much more sense, during the night.

Walking the streets and rooftops alone as an insomniac, you frequently disobeyed the curfew -- but no matter. INANI never noticed, as you always knew exactly where to step to dodge the surveillance drones, the cameras, and quadrant perimeters.

As an adult, INANI noticed your aptitude for the night, your owlish nature -- and opted to make you a Night Guard, one among a few who patrol the night alongside the drones and the cameras. You can see everyone disobeying curfew, and though you don't have the heart to punish them, this skill still gives you an interesting outlook on some people.

Anyone making an action or talking during the night will show up on your patrol.

And on the first night I saw these people out

Had a plan at the start but was kind of ruined when I got a new job and started it on the first day of the game. Been full on so wasn't on the forums much at the start and felt out of touch with the game.

Had planned on contacting all the people who weren't out at night but wanted to give it a bit to make sure I wasn't been played and then when I finally got the chance to make a move with it, it was to late.

Was fun to read back on everything though and just wish I'd been able to be more involved and had tried to bring together all the people who I hadn't seen out at night from the start.

Yeah would have been if I'd had the time to play it the way I'd intended. Feel like I wasted, but I guess it's live and learn. Always a next time  Smiley

Landshark and I were Lovers Well, hello there!
Quote
Love is a force that cannot be stopped.

Though INANI prohibited all romance years ago, taking the duty upon himself to arbitrate all procreation and matchmaking, there was a destiny between you two. You share a fated love that bridges divides, that shines underneath crossed stars.

You are Lovers. Neither of you are rebels, per se; though you defy INANI, you would never wish death upon him, as he only means well, and has done so much for you.

If one of you would die, your partner may sacrifice themselves to save the other's life.

It wasn't really too helpful, and I had no idea why Landshark sacrificed himself, while I had already looked suspicious and the death made me look even more suspicious. But thanks, dear~

I was pretty certain that role-reveals were off, Garthy, so I was thinking that you were a rebel. I never trusted SirNiko, but the opportunity to kill him never arose (the public seemed pretty set on a certain target each night).

You were but a child, when it happened.

Exploring the outskirts of the town, you witnessed a catastrophic explosion in your residential zone, caused by a faulty wire in the nearby processing plant -- you were one of the only lucky few who survived the explosion, relatively unharmed.

Your parents... were not. They burned to death, slowly, agonizingly.

Technology once inspired fear in you; any wiring, and form of electricity, anything that moves of its own accord, can kill of its own accord. You long for a world without the menace of machinery, the terror of technology. But you have pushed through this fear -- you have overcome it. You have made it into hatred. You could never hate INANI, for all that he has done -- but you hate his mindless minions, his omnipresent surveillance, his unthinking killers.

You are a Luddite, waiting for the right time -- the time to strike out your vengeance against the machine, to savage it, to kill it as brutally and slowly as it killed your parents. Once per game, during the day, you can send a command to me to down the network that night -- this will prevent all rebel actions, alongside all ORA actions.

Your parents shall be avenged, even if you must die to make it happen.
Here's my role incase anyone one wants to know. Also I'd like to know who killed me?

I was pretty certain that role-reveals were off, Garthy, so I was thinking that you were a rebel. I never trusted SirNiko, but the opportunity to kill him never arose (the public seemed pretty set on a certain target each night).

Isn't that always the way. Two innocents being absolutely freaking certain that the other is absolutely, definitely the enemy. And neither are.

On the first day, you seemed to be attacking me too much in public, for too long, and with too many holes in the stories that looked like convenient lapses. I thought you were trying to pull SirNiko out of the fire. And with me out as a potential Seer, well, it just didn't make sense. Inadvertently, you ended up convincing me that you had to be a rebel.

I'm not sure I follow how role-reveals being off made me look like a rebel? I'm guessing you were sceptical of a Seer claim? If so, why?

It's an interesting Lovers role though. Lovers usually die together when one dies and have to win together. This one was a bit softer, a bit more like Masons with a bonus sacrifice.

You were but a child, when it happened.

Exploring the outskirts of the town, you witnessed a catastrophic explosion in your residential zone, caused by a faulty wire in the nearby processing plant -- you were one of the only lucky few who survived the explosion, relatively unharmed.

Wow, you were telling the truth about your parents too. I thought maybe that was flavour text, or you'd slipped up and given away that you may have rebel motivations, which is why I kept pushing you on the topic for a bit. I was thinking that I'd need to keep an eye on you. I was caught off-guard when somebody actually killed you.

Quote
Long ago, when you were but a teenager, you witnessed freedom.

The open frontier. The untamed wild. The world you never could have imagined -- that exists outside of INANI's grasp.

Ever since, you have yearned for a sky not imprisoned by metal, a land not covered by man. The verdant landscape that you saw haunts your mind's eye, at all times -- you never spend a moment of your life in the city not wishing to be out of the city, free to live as you please.

You have grown old, a man carrying a spark of defiance, a hope of escape, dreams of liberation from steel.

Each night, since that fated night, you trek through the sleeping city, slipping between guards, ducking in blind spots, sidling silently like a shadow under the stars -- and have found that spot, that hole of freedom.

And you have set yourself free.

You are an Explorer, one who has devoted themselves entirely to unchaining yourself from the chains of the city. Each night, you escape from the city -- this means you cannot be targeted by anyone who targets during the night. You can still be lynched and killed by rebels, however.

When I initially started the game, I had assumed the premise would be that the ORA would be the traditional Informed Minority and that the "Rebels" were all the other players. The result would be standard werewolf, but with innocents pretending to be wolves instead of the wolves pretending to be innocents. That was spoiled on the first day.

When Garthy first contacted me I had assumed incorrectly that he must be lying because my role, as written, would make me immune to his power. Then I checked with Inanimate to see which side I was supposed to be playing on, and he told me that I just had to pick. Inanimate later corrected the text of my role to make it clear that I WAS vulnerable to seers, I decided to just go with it. To be honest, I was afraid Garthy was going to take me out effortlessly. His story was completely true and worse yet, he was backing it up with copies of our communications which I was scared was bulletproof defense. So, I decided to go whole hog and claim I was immune to absolutely everything. It was self-defending - my willingness to reveal my role just confirmed why I'd be so brazen with revealing it.

As an aside, Inanimate, I actually assumed ORA night kills would work on me. I was expecting to die ignominiously the moment one of the ORA tried to call my bluff. My role was really poorly described because it seems like the "Night owl" power should have been technically immune, and it seemed logically connected that both rebel kills and ORA kills would work just fine.

I feel really bad for Garthy, though. Technically, his power shouldn't have identified me as an innocent because I was really opposed to him. If I had chosen to side with the ORA, I probably would have turned the game. That first move really hurt their side.

And yeah, sorry Alevice and Autothysis, but I totally believed both of you were on the side of the ORA. I just needed to come up with an argument that justified voting you both to death. Autothysis was so easy to take down that I'd assumed only rebels were left. I asked Tanner for his thoughts on the last day, to try and justify my lynch vote, and he was so quick to suggest Autothysis needed to die that I knew he had to be a rebel. I was totally waiting for my votes for Alevice and Autothysis to peg me as a rebel that I would get counter-piled. Maybe I'm just that convincing of a liar?

This was a really good game! Even though the first day was really wonky with Garthy's unfair death I really liked the intrigue and clever lies that came out this round.

I knew you were full of crap being innocent, but since Garthy publicly marked you were innocent, it was like argh. I mean, you were the one basically picking the lynching targets and everyone followed you around. Sooo frustrating.

God knows how many times I had to explain my fucking story and everyone was just like ignoring everything I say and supposedly interpreting everything wrong. It was pointless of accusing you, but I did try to bring attention into targeting you.

That's the one advantage of being the werewolf - you don't really have to pay attention to what anyone says, since you can just misinterpret it to fit your needs. Usually that gets you killed in the games I play, since whether you're a liar or an idiot you're a threat.

You were already outed as an ORA helper, and my vote against Garthy (who I assumed all real ORA would believe was the seer) should have sealed my fate. You totally should have voted me down. I was expecting you to do it. But then, maybe you were already screwed because too many players had chosen to side with the rebels already?

Did the rebels know each others identities? I know the ORA was fractured (or at least, Garthy claimed such and I believed him) but were the rebels as well?

Crowe has, ahem, particular talents as a member of Freedom's Road; he has secretly practiced ancient arts of combat, and has become your chapter's resident Assassin. Once per game, during the day, he can publicly reveal himself to kill a single person.

I got one of Abraham's requests, as well, and we had worked out that one of us (myself) wouldn't answer in case it was a trap. Then I died, but what can you do? Fair play to all of you regardless!
