Dropping gamerscore is a dangerous path.
You don't want to force the player to do something that may not be beneficial to him. Say the player is having a fight with his girlfriend. I mean shit is serious, his whole life is in disarray. The thing carries on for weeks. The whole time his gamer score is dropping? What is the game saying? It's saying that he should be playing instead of doing whatever he is doing. Same thing when he's working, or sleeping. That's kind of commanding.
True. Thats why I brought up FF8 in a way, so overtime could be definitely be too evil but I think like losing too many battles in Halo 3 or running away from fights in Demon Souls should have a profound effect on the player-character. Guess that's what I meant with more construction, whereas the player-character is punished for not strengthening their skills rather than the player for not playing the game.
