Yeah it seems like given the choice that they'd release it on time before they'd fix glaring issues.

Curse of the million dollar Kickstarter.
Take your time and do it right? Lynch mob forms.
Rush it out the door? Lynch mob forms.
You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you?

i think that's the curse of promising what you can't deliver, not the curse of a 1 million kickstarter
what they said they would do was literally impossible to do, yet they, and the people who funded them, did not know it was impossible to do. it's as if they promised to send a man to mars and bring every backer back a personal mars rock, for only 40 million dollars

Please consider the source. These are people trying their hardest to hate on the Ouya, so busy mudslinging they never even confirm if their claims are actually true. In this case, this security issue is only a theoretical claim and they haven't actually demonstrated it, not even in a test environment. (The latter wouldn't even need any 'test environment', it would just be a matter of compiling, putting it on the Ouya, then showing how you can apparently buy everything for free. No such thing has been demonstrated.) Their only proof of the Ouya's 'lack of security' so far is them being able to read out the data presented through the Ouya storefront (which isn't all that surprising and is not at all a security issue, as they can only grab the info that is already public). Hating on Ouya is fine, but don't spread misinformation or pass off extremely shaky rumors as facts.

I believe they've also decompiled the Ouya SDK and have been able to ascertain that the system doesn't automatically ask for confirmation before sending a purchase request. I agree that I'd like for Ouya themselves to respond to this stuff, or someone actually going through with what they say is possible, but for now, it certainly doesn't look good and I'd think long and hard before registering a credit card with the Ouya.

i wonder why they didn't do just that, with this console that isn't released until june and hasn't been sent out to the kickstarter backers yet unless you paid $1337

http://www.theverge.com/2013/4/4/4180242/ouya-reviewWorst of all, it makes buying things impossibly easy — you enter a credit card when first setting up your Ouya, and there are often no confirmation boxes or checks against you spending thousands of dollars. Oh, you hit Upgrade because it's right next to Play and the controller's laggy? Perfect. Thanks for your money.

nice try, the verge . com is a confirmed haven of trolls and liars. the revolution continues unabated, unlike myself, aheh, as i have just pounded off to some "top shelf" anime if you catch the drift of my wordplay here.

Okay he lost a little bit of credibility at the bit about the letters on the buttons.

He spends one sentence complaining about that, not a real big deal in the grand scheme of things.

i disagreed with him about the buttons too but i don't think it causes him to lose credibility; it's an understandable complaint but not one that sympathize with because i grew up with the snes system of XYBA rather than the xbox system of YXAB

Obviously that is a test game. Or is there really a game that goes for $900?
That seems like a game design challenge.

Now I don't know what to believe. If this is the case, then what's going on in that review?

hmm, in the review he says that often there are no confirmation checks. so I'm confused as to what purchases do not have confirmation checks. or if he's making shit up, or there's some kind of lag/delay or bug where the confirmation isn't being shown.
