Hell no, touchpad is not a mice, a lot of these game demand mice precision! My attempt at torchlight was a disaster! Civ is more reasonable it's less twitchy. Crayon physics is out of question! Nothing where you have to draw I'm certain!

Do you guys know that there exist people in the world who don't know how to use computers very well? Some people like to play video games but don't want to deal with all the stuff that goes in to setting up controllers to play. Or even downloading and installing a game from a website. I know a people who are my age and play video games on systems like gamecube and wii who I had to walk through how to unzip a zip file. And even if you are really good at computers it is still hard to do sometimes, especially for multiplayer games. Have you ever tried to set up a 4 player multiplayer game on pc with controllers? It's possible, but it definitely takes some work and it is not the same sit down, turn on the tv, pick up a controller, and just start playing situation that the ouya or any console is.
And please don't call me stupid or dumb because I'm actually smart and cool and I can run really really fast.

it is that simple if it's on windows, and you're using xbox controllers. unless theyre wireless, then you have to dl a driver for the dongle thing. but otherwise, yeah, you literally just plug in four gamepads. the end.
and it seems like most people are using xbox pads for the ouya, so...
admittedly, getting a ps3 pad to work on windows is a pain in the ass (you pretty much have to use motioninjoy, which is a pretty weird thing), but it looks like it's a pain in the ass getting those and xbox pads working at the same time on the ouya, so once again, this whole line of debate for the ouya's usefulness doesn't make any sense.

Like who? Is it worth buying an Ouya and having a cheap inferior product with next to no games over learning how to use a computer? The effort going into learning how to use a computer is more than worth it, considering all the possibilities that arise when you do learn it. This argument isn't really relevant because it's not Ouya specific, it applies to all consoles. And if you wanted a game console that's plug in and play you might as well just buy a used 360. You can get one for around 100 dollars these days.

If all they want to do is play some games, they won't need something that is better than an OUYA. I'm sure the cheapness and basic games are more appealing than buying an Xbox or whatever. If they don't like long AAA games, then the simple games on an OUYA are probably better, for the casual audience.

Then they should get a Wii, which has a much more robust library of casual games and a better and more friendly control system.
Even cheaper (you can pick one up with a controller for 50 USD used), and pretty small. Larger library, better games.
Absolutely no reason to choose an Ouya over the Wii if you're into casual games.

I find it funny how people tell other people that they can get a used xbox for 100$. For a similar experience, get a 100$ tablet, with access to Google Play, use one of those gamepad adapters and call it a day.
Ouya just can't fight with the standards just yet (I doubt it ever will, though). Google play opens up so many more avenues than the closed Ouya ecosystem that if you want to find merit in it, you can only resort to: developing for it.
Ouya is a great idea, but needs someone that knows what the hell they are doing in the background.

True, but it's worth noting that a major reason you play a console is for the pick-up-and-just-play experience. You don't want to have to deal with rebinding keys, especially for a multiplayer game (PC), and you don't want to have to deal with trawling a marketplace for gamepad-compatible games, or using a remapper (Google Play). Re-mappers do exist, and they do work well, but still, there's no substitute for a game ported to, or simply made for gamepads. A strength of the Ouya could also be a weakness, which is that while it has a separate app store than Play. So, while you don't have your Play games available by default, you do have a store complete with games that should both all work perfectly on the system as well as be configured to work well with the controller.

I just finished reading the review, and that's honestly not as bad of a review as it could have been. It seemed pretty fair, which seems to be the feeling that you hear about the Ouya - either "I love it!" from different sources (usually individuals on Twitter / indie game site forums), or, "Eh, it could be better" (from critical reviewers).
The review definitely points out issues that should be fixed, but apart from controller problems, the rest might be able to be fixed in firmware. Definitely not the "It's worst than death" response that I heard from a lot of sources before launch and expected to hear from pretty much everywhere afterwards.
The launch of a console's usually rocky, and this one is no exception, for sure. However, I'm not sure if it'll be giving you red rings of death, or disc read error issues a few months down the line. It could be really swell if Ouya 2 ever comes around in several years, fixes the original's problems, and can play the entire back library of Ouya 1 games (also, if it were built on Linux to have maximum porting ease, that would be AWESOME).

Many tablets can be connected to a TV, though I don't know their price tags.
