Hi everyone. I joined the TIGForums recently and I've had a blast looking at peoples' posts. The tutorials have been especially useful.
I've been programming for a while but only recently decided to start doing art.
Here is some of my work:

Any feedback would be useful. Thanks in advance.

I think you'll get more feedback if you put the images in your post Smiley

I actually quite like the first two, they're very readable and clean. I'm no master with pixel art by any means, but I really like how the object's form and depth is clearly visible, and you didn't use too many colours to do it! The blue character is also quite good, but I think the eyes to be a bit "sharp", perhaps tone the white down to a light or medium grey.

One thing I just came to realize with the barrel is perhaps that it shows too much of the top side compared to the perspective shown from the bottom. Hopefully you understand what I mean, I'm awful with explanations...

In any case, your work is very good, stay motivated, draw often, and experiment!

Hey, man, I did a small edit on your barrel to point some stuff out. here we go:

Thw two major things were perspective and detail. I assumed you were going for a standard "JRPG-top-down" perspective and rounded out the shape of the barrel accordingly. The biggest thing was that the shape of the metal ties didn't conform to the shape of the barrel's top and made things look a bit wonky.

The second thing was that the brightest colour on the top of the barrel made things look over detailed or cluttered or something, so I just did away with it, which I think cleans the look up considerably. One of the more common mistake made by people new to pixel art is trying to cram too much into a small space, leading to less readable sprites.

Other than that, you seem to be going in the right direction. Good colours, good contrast. Give animating your sprites a go, and see where that leads!

That does look a lot better.. The barrel is actually something I tried to copy from this tutorial:

Guess I need to practice more.
Will definitely give animation a shot sometime soon.
