But... Then we wouldn't have 2000 members! Yeah. But when we DO get to 2000, those will be 2000 real, living, contributing members!

Maybe something will happen when we get to 2008 members. Since the year is 2008. Maybe each member can be some sort of guardian for a year, from now back to the birth of Jesus. And we have to protect our year from time pirates.

2012 is claimed by some to be a great year of spiritual transformation (or apocalypse). This claim is based on Christian text, Mayan civilization or some other source. However, there is no agreement whether in 2012 there will be the end of civilization, or humanity will be elevated to a higher level, or a new human species will evolve, or some other major catastrophe will occur.[14] from wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012

Yeah, the Mayan calendar predicted the doomsday to be sometime in 2012. It's hard to take a civilization seriously when they all died out hundreds of years ago, though.

Dude, a whole, freakin' lot of people have transcended the mortal plane, considering that your definition of "transcend the mortal plain" seems to involved being skewered by conquistadors.
Of course, it was mostly just the Native Americans that got skewered by conquistadors, so maybe they're the only ones who transcended? That kinda sucks for us.

Hmmm... no it's 2012, pretty sure. Also pretty sure that what the mayans predicted is the activation the LHC.

I don't know about the Mayans, but Gabe Newell seems to have predicted the LHC pretty thoroughly: I already pre-ordered my crowbar
