  • Only count PC games.
  • Free games and trials don't count.
  • Digital downloads only, ordering a boxed game doesn't count.

I'm trying to work out which are the most popular digital shops for buying PC game downloads.  I'm fairly sure I know what's going to come first, but I want to see how the others stack up (though perhaps there will be something of an indie bias on this site!)

Please comment if I've missed any!

Thanks everyone, not a huge number of voters but the results are pretty clear.

Steam for practically everything, GOG for those sweet deals on older games.

The dev's website whenever possible. I really dislike the idea of PC gaming getting more centralized, and Steam and the likes provide nothing of value to me.

Steam and GOG though, to answer the question, and the humble bundle if that counts.

green man gaming should be on there, they have some decent deals and usually provide steam keys. usually always cheaper to preorder a game here, they often have coupons or vouchers that will stack with preorder discounts.

steam, gog, origin, amazon, "gfwl" (wrong terminology btw. gfwl is equivalent of steamworks)

Thanks for all the extra voting.  Obviously Steam is winning, but GOG.com is surprisingly close so I went and made an account yesterday.  It's refreshingly consumer friendly!

Ah, I missed that one, sorry!

Thanks for the clarification, ever since .NET I've really struggled with Microsoft branding!

I've used GreenManGaming often when I want to buy a steamworks game new, since as allen said they usually are 10-20% cheaper than preordering at the source -- sometimes much more. I'll mostly use anyone who gives me a good bargain, though -- except for Gamefly, who can go fuck themselves for stealing my copy of SWAT 4 away.
