@SlGVATR: I don't care if chili should not contain beans, because I like chili with beans. In the ICS Rules and Regulations for cooks at the World’s Championship there is an interesting paragraph:
Quote
10. People's Choice Chili is governed by the SPONSORING ORGANIZATION and cookoff chairman of each cookoff, NOT THE ICS. The chairman can require (a) 2 gallons maximum in lieu of a cash entry fee; (b) 1 gallon maximum in addition to a cash entry fee or (c) a cash fee. Non-compliance by a contestant of the chairman’s requirement will result in disqualification. Discrimination by cookoff officials will result in non-sanctioning of their event the following year. PEOPLE’S CHOICE CHILIL [sic] MUST CONTAIN BEANS.
So I don't think they are totally against beans.

That might be true, but it is chili according to their rules, not traditional chili, but people's choice chili. Wink

my favorite batch of chili that I've made I used lentils and garbanzo beans in place of regular beans, lamb instead of beef, and when I filled a bowl I topped it with feta. It was so goddamn good.

I don't have a picture though and since this is a "pictures of food thread" I will just include a random picture of braised lamb shanks:

Ate at a pretty nice thai place a few days ago. It's called "Taste of Thai", on Broadway in Sacramento.

Beef Salad. Good, not great. Spicy stuff.

Yellow curry with chicken. Really fucking good. Sweet, spicy, and tangy.

Pad Thai. OMG good stuff.

Some kind of thick noodle. I think it had peanuts. Really loved it though.

This green curry is spicy as hell. But so good... ;___;

Yesterday ate at a Japanese buffet called Fujii's. I used to eat at their location in Davis, but they've got a new place in Elk Grove.

Oysters!

Sashimi! I like to squeeze lemons on top and then dab it in a little bit of lite soy sauce and wasabi. MMMMMMM....

Some kind of roll. Much love.

Another roll. Also good. IDK if it was the same type, but w/e.

Tempura was okay.

And these cone rolls with fried salmon skin.... sighhhhh...

Pretty sure that "some kind of roll" was a Dragon Roll... I got those all the time before becoming vegetarian.

i made myself a burger

patty, 3 pickles, cheese melted over it

then bacon, sauteed mushrooms, onions, guacamole slices, butter lettuce and some japanese mayo

unorthodox, but still pretty great
